Here's another little beauty for all fans of The DALEKS.
Go on - hug a Dalek today.  (You know you want to.)

Just because I love it.  Isn't it a belter?  Yeah, I knew you'd agree.

OH HOW I MISS YOU TONIGHT...

Here's another posthumous duet featuring
JIM REEVES and DEBORAH ALLEN.
Sounds like it was recorded yesterday.

BABE Of The DAY - NICOLA BRYANT...

Today's Babe is NICOLA BRYANT,
surely The DOCTOR's most glamorous
assistant ever.  No?  So who would you say
beats Niccie for the title?  (FROBISHER
the penguin doesn't qualify.)

TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS & HOLD ME...

When this duet was recorded, JIM REEVES
had been dead for about 16 years.  Ain't technology
wonderful?  The burd is DEBORAH ALLEN.

NIPPER COVER GALLERY - PART ONE...

Copyright REBELLION

Okay, peeps, while I've got the comics out, here are the first five covers of NIPPER, IPC's A5 sized comic from the late '80s.  The remaining 11 A3 sized comics are up in my loft somewhere, but once I've located them, I'll do part two.

Ooh, something to look forward too, eh?  Anybody want to see some of the contents?

BABE Of The DAY - JUDITH RALSTON...

It's BBC SCOTLAND weather
gal JUDITH RALSTON to 'warm
the cockles' of semi-regular Criv-ite
McS's heart.  As for today's weather...
there's a damp front spreading across
McS's the country's lower regions,
but dry spells will soon follow.

NIPPER SAMPLE COMIC...

Copyright REBELLION

At the beginning of 1987, the first issue of IPC's new fortnightly A5 comic for young kids hit the shops - NIPPER.  After five issues, it became a standard A4 comic, which lasted until #16 when it then merged with BUSTER.  However, there was a sample version tried out on readers before the regular title's release in order to try and stir up demand for it.  Here's that complete ish!

PART TEN Of PLAYMATES From FAR-AWAY PLACES...

Yet another in this seemingly never-ending series from the back page of LITTLE STAR, a nursery comic from the '70s.  Only two more to go you'll be relieved to hear, then I'll see if there's anything inside the comic that I can use to fill a post or three.  Incidentally, TIMMY grew up to be a fat lazy slob who lay about on the beach all day, drinking lager and eating fruit doves.  No wonder he spent so much time fattening them up.

BABE Of The DAY - RACHEL RILEY...

Ravishing RACHEL RILEY is
today's 'Babe', Crivs.  Stunning looks,
nice personality, and also a good head
for money (a little slot on the top),
she's surely every man's dream.

CENTURY 21 MINI ALBUMS...

Didn't we kids have it great back in the 1960s?  Do you remember the CENTURY 21 33 r.p.m. mini albums of various GERRY ANDERSON puppet programmes that used to be available in shops?  The only one I ever actually owned at the time was INTRODUCING CAPTAIN SCARLET, but I've picked up a few others over the years, either in originals, cassette tape re-issues in the '90s, or CD facsimiles issued by FANDERSON.  Here are a few for your perusal - enjoy the memories.

And below is one of Fanderson's original productions.  If you're interested in joining the club and gaining access to all the goodies on offer, you can find a link in my blog list.  (Update: Now deleted, after they wanted me to renew my year's membership after only 5 months.)

(BOND) BABE Of The DAY - MADELINE SMITH...

MADDY luv, go and put some
clothes on, 'cos it's freezing outside.
Hang on a mo, though - it's suddenly
getting hot around here.  On second
thought, stay just as you are.

POLITICIANS MAKE ME PUKE!

Would you trust either of these men?

Remember when all those money-grubbing politicians were involved in an expenses scandal a little while ago?  Their response was "It's not against the rules!" as if that were some kind of justification for their shameful greed and unethical behaviour.  Any sensible person's attitude would be to say "Well, it bloody well should be!"  Well, it's happened again, as demonstrated by the findings over the 'cash for access' scandal involving two former foreign secretaries MALCOM RIFKIND and JACK STRAW.

Apart from "a minor misuse of parliamentary resources" on Jack Straw's part, both politicians have been 'cleared' of any wrongdoing, despite Malcom Rifkind boasting to undercover reporters posing as employees of a non-existent communications agency that he was able to arrange "useful access" to every British ambassador in the world due to his status, and that he was self-employed and had loads of "free time" on his hands.

The decision is no surprise of course, when politicians are both judge and jury in the matter of their own conduct.  They're the biggest 'benefit scroungers' in Britain and are only out for themselves.  Shame on them!

INTRODUCING The GUY In The RED...

Part One

Part Two

Well, I've shown you the cover before, so it's about time to let you hear the record itself.  It includes audio clips from the first episode of CAPTAIN SCARLET, told in flashback and framed with new dialogue.

All together now - "Spectrum is Green!"

PLAYMATES From FAR-AWAY PLACES - PART NINE...

How to make a child grow up with a 'hang up' - leave her name off the title.  Only JUANA gets star billing, while LUISA is relegated to the small print.  So what happened next?  When Luisa learned that she didn't receive equal mention, she fed Juana to TERRY the tortoise in small pieces.  Serves her right for being a glory hog, the jumped-up little cow!

TODAY I 'LANCED' A BOYLE...

Was in Glasgow today and as I was making my way out of a record store/bar/cafe, I spotted a fellow staring into space near the door, with his upturned bunnet lying next to him on the chair like a busker or beggar.  Ever-ready with a friendly, jovial quip to lighten the load of world-weary travellers in this crazy journey called life, I was going to say "I was just about to throw some money into your bunnet" when I recognized that it was heavily bearded Scots comedian FRANKIE BOYLE.  I didn't let it deter me from delivering my remark as I passed, but no tolerant titter or amiable answer (like "Go right ahead, pal - I never knock back money!") was forth-coming, just a brief, expressionless glance in my direction.

It's said that many famous comedians are rather dour in their demeanour when not performing, or without the benefit of their writers to supply witty one-liners, but I thought Fearless Frankie would've been more ready to indulge in a bit of boisterous banter with a passing pedestrian.  If he had, then I might've had a more interesting (and funnier) anecdote with which to regale you, rather than this rather empty exercise in name-dropping.

Blame Frankie Boyle for that, not me!  Now, did I ever tell you about the time I met RIKKI FULTON?

BABE Of The DAY - KARLA CONWAY...

Here's PLAYBOY model KARLA
CONWAY to kick-start your day, Crivs.
If any of you are fortunate enough to have
a woman like this waiting back home for
you, then I'm a mighty jealous man.

PART EIGHT Of PLAYMATES From FAR-AWAY PLACES...

Image copyright D.C. THOMSON & Co., Ltd

Phew!  Only four more of these LITTLE STAR features to go before they wrap-up.  Hey, let's have a bit of fun with them.  Write your own humorous text to accompany the above one.  The winner gets the satisfaction of knowing that he's given his fellow Crivvies a good laugh.

(Nothing racist or rude, it goes without saying.)
