I find it depends on which end I approach a memory from. If I suddenly remember something, it seems fairly recent - probably because I've jumped straight in. If, however, I start with one memory and then work my way through some others, they have time to settle into their own 'personal perspective', time-wise (if that makes sense), and may seem ages ago. Just depends. The mind is a fickle mistress sometimes.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-49014918865701369242024-03-17T23:15:38.217+00:002024-03-17T23:15:38.217+00:00It's funny, but I can remember those years bet...It's funny, but I can remember those years between ages 12 and 26, say (1971 to 1985) now with far greater clarity than the more recent years. Of course, to say that is to repeat what my parents and grandparents said as they themselves grew older. It's probably in the nature of human biology to get clarity over events of times long past. It is also fair to say that I spend a lot of time revisiting photos of those years, going over diaries that I kept intermittantly, comparing notes with pals I still have from those times, even checking up publication dates of books I bought, showtimes of films I saw with pals, and that activity must stimulate memories as well.baggseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01126205345158158957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-45794371538380518222024-03-17T23:09:00.969+00:002024-03-17T23:09:00.969+00:00I reckon that'll be on the cards for the futur...I reckon that'll be on the cards for the future, LH - all 7 episodes colourised. I haven't watched the abridged version yet, but a few years ago when I watched the original serial, I found it tedious in places. That was probably because I watched all 7 in a row, and it just wasn't paced for that. One episode at a time, with at least a few days in between - if not a week.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-84870041707453041052024-03-17T22:46:27.257+00:002024-03-17T22:46:27.257+00:00I watched it and it didn't do anything for me....I watched it and it didn't do anything for me. They butchered it and colored it hoping to bullshit us into buying it. Honestly fellas the version I watched back in 1964 was a masterpiece! . This was just an copycat of the movie . Same name and all. If the BBC plan on doing something like this again just do it properly and colourise all episodes not condense and colour.Lionel Hancockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16590234347973457804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-50027072633574378822024-03-17T22:39:25.932+00:002024-03-17T22:39:25.932+00:00What, no comments? Seeing your kids grew up probably makes certain things in the past seem long ago (yet, paradoxically, also not so long ago), whereas my time in Southsea and Portsmouth seems like only a couple or so years back. The mysteries of time, eh? We may have both walked the same streets, but time-wise, our memories probably aren't in-sync when it comes to placing near-simultaneous events in perspective (if that makes any sense). Right, I'm off to my scratcher, so I'll reply to any further comments in a few hours. So I'm sure you're right that it's the one I had. Perhaps some day when I'm stuck for anything better to do, I'll try making a list of all the Airfix models I used to have. The black box kit came out around 1965 (though appeared in a 1964 catalogue for upcoming models) and the blue box came out towards the end of the '60s, maybe the start of the '70s (though I think the former). I don't think I ever had a huge amount of models when I was a kid, but I certainly had several, mainly Airfix and Aurora. I've acquired replacements for the most memorable ones I had (or wanted) when I was younger. I had dozens and dozens of Airfix models, mainly spacecraft and aircraft, that I have vivid recollections of, but I also had one of these skeletons which had completely slipped my mind until now. Unlike your fantastic memory for such things though, I have no idea when and where I acquired it, or even what box it came in.
