DUDLEY D. WATKIN'S FIRST EVER PUBLISHED COMIC STRIP...

As recently reported on various other sites, DUDLEY DEXTER WATKINS is the first person to be honoured with a commemorative plaque in a new scheme to celebrate the Year of Creative Scotland.

Long overdue, but better late than never.  Anyway, I thought readers might enjoy seeing Dudley's first ever published comic strip, reprinted back in 1976 in ALLY SLOPER #1.

MARVEL'S DOCTOR WHO COVER GALLERY - PART THREE...

DOCTOR WHO copyright BBC TV

You're looking at the final eight covers in our three-part DOCTOR WHO cover gallery.  This was a title published by MARVEL U.S. in the mid-'80s, featuring coloured reprints of comic strips from Marvel U.K.'s black and white mag devoted to the 'Guardian from Galifrey'.  The American version only lasted 23 monthly issues, the British title is still going strong, now published by PANINI.

So tell me, peeps - are you looking forward to the 50th Anniversary show on the 23rd of this month?  I know I am!  However, I'm also fervently hoping that it isn't a huge disappointment like far too many recent episodes of the BBC programme have been.  Let's hope it truly is a worthy addition to the legend that is Doctor Who!

The logo below was used as the back cover on several issues, when not featuring an ad or pin-up illustration.

THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO - 1986 EDINBURGH EXHIBITION CATALOGUE...

Way back in 1986, The CITY Of EDINBURGH DISTRICT COUNCIL RECREATION DEPARTMENT staged an exhibition entitled 'THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!'  Unfortunately, I never managed through to Edinburgh to see it, but I bought the catalogue from a visiting double-decker bus or van promoting various upcoming events staged by different Councils throughout Scotland.

Anyway, being a generous fellow, I thought I'd share its pages with you here.  Just look at that great STEVE KYTE and GRAHAM BLEATHMAN artwork.  Superb!
