DENNIS The MENACE COVER GALLERY OMNIBUS...

Images copyright D.C. THOMSON & Co., Ltd

I've shown these DENNIS The MENACE Book covers in six separate parts some time ago, but thought it might prove more convenient to include them all in one single post and thus enable you to forego having to trawl through the blog in search of them.  So here they are!  Where there's only one image for a book, it's because the back cover was the same as the front and therefore redundant.  In a few instances, some covers would not display side-by-side, so, as with the single covers, I've enlarged them in order to maintain an even layout.  (Presentation is paramount!)

You now have all 39 Dennis book covers ever published over a period of 55 years - all scanned from my own personal collection.   How many did you have as a kid?  (Incidentally, there weren't any books between the ones for '78 and '83.)

MARVEL In The SILVER AGE...

Image copyright MARVEL COMICS

In case you've been living in Limbo for a while, there's a great blog called MARVEL In The SILVER AGE (which you can all access by clicking on the above name), written by writer, editor, and all-round good guy ALAN McKENZIE, who, among his many other accomplishments, served a term as THARG The MIGHTY on cult comic 2000 A.D.  (He was also the best editor I ever worked with.)

Al kindly invited me to write a guest post for him, so how could I refuse such a compliment?  (He sure knows talent when he sees it.)  So pop over to Al's blog to read my humble efforts, and while you're there, browse through the archives and treat yourselves to well-researched, perceptive, quality writing on SILVER AGE MARVEL and other associated subjects.  Race you there!

SPECTACULAR SPLASH PAGES #11...

Copyright DC COMICS

A double-spread spectacular splash page by JACK KIRBY for your appreciation, peeps.  MIKE ROYER supplied the inks, and readers experienced the comics equivalent of a wide-screen movie image - something that the 'King' excelled at.  I've applied a little computer 'magic' to disguise the gutter between the two pages, so lap it up, Crivvies - this one's for you!
