You all know of DENNY O'NEIL - he returned The BATMAN to his 'creature of the night' persona, and wrote SUPERMAN's KRYPTONITE NEVERMORE series, as well as the relevant GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW run - plus a whole tonne of other stuff that would fill a hundred telephone directory-sized lists. Sadly, he's passed away, and another comicbook legend has left us. However, we shall remember him. Condolences to his family, friends, and many fans.

Sad news indeed, one of the best ever writers of comics (imho).His stories were a big part of my childhood and teenage years , especially his work with Neal Adam's on Batman and Green Lantern Green Arrow on the Ras Al Ghul and the GL drugs storylines. Another big chunk of our past has gone and of course of more importance someone's husband, father friend etc
Denny and Archie Goodwin were two of the very best writers of the '70s, McS, and I can't recall ever NOT being entertained by any of the comics they wrote. In the photo I used, I think Denny could easily be mistaken for Stan Lee, another of the best ever writers of comicbooks. Sad to think that all three men are now gone. At least we can still read their comics whenever the fancy takes us.
Always sad to hear of anyone from (what I consider to be) the days when comics were affordable, easily obtained FUN.
I enjoyed O'Neil's Green Lantern comics, and used to really like his little editorial column From The Den, which appeared in the letters pages of the Batman titles in the late 80s.
Thanks for all the good times Mr O'Neil, rest well.
And he was only 81, DS, which isn't exactly considered old these days. I'll be re-reading some of his stories over the next few days, just to remind myself of when comics were good.
His collaboration with Neal Adams on Batman and GL/GA was all 10 out of 10.There were no bad issues(in my opinion and the fact that they have been reprinted in so many formats proves their popularity). Curiously never enjoyed his Marvel work but sad to hear of his passing. He does look like Stan Lee in the photo!!!
I'm not familiar with most of his Marvel stuff, Triple F, but I hear that his work on Iron Man is well-regarded. Apparently, Tony Stark becoming an alcoholic was based on Denny's own experience.
Meant to say, read a few of his Daredevils back in the day and enjoyed them immensely.
I never had the good luck to meet Denny despite thirty plus years of going to San Diego comic con. I will always remember his GA/GL work and they were some of the earliest comics I ever bought .
GL/GA was a comic I never read back then because I considered the two characters 'b' list superheroes, PS. Had I known that Denny was writing them at the time, I'd have been sure to pick them up.
