You're all loving this series so far, I hope! I know I am! The above FANTASTIC FOUR issue (#90), was the first instalment of a four-part adventure, and one of the classic tales of the '60s. A few years later, it was reprinted in The TITANS (#33), and the cover was redrawn to suit the different page size of the UK 'landscape' format. I'm lucky enough to have both versions in my immense collection of comics, which is why I can show you them here. Got a preference, frantic ones? Then say which and why in the comments section.

Preference that's a hard one. Both look damn good.. I would had one of each as well. Who was the old boy with the three apes. Can remember that story vividly just can remember his name?
FF #13 - 'The Red Ghost', alias Ivan Kragoff. Or 'The Mad Ghost' according to MWOM - or 'The Apemaster' according to Wham! Still Ivan Kragoff regardless though.

Wow! High praise indeed, Woodsy, thanks very much. As is yours, it goes without saying. I'm a lifelong teetotaller, so I don't bother with Hogmanay, but the sentiment is appreciated. You have a great 2018 as well.
I vote for the original from the FF, it's one of my favorite covers from Kirby. The later version is pretty good, but not as strong dramatically.

The re-colouring of the spectral Skrull hurts the new version. If they had maintained the more ghostly look of the original colours, the new layout improved the positioning for me by having him encircle Reed with his arms rather than the former overlayed in foreground placement.
Yeah, I thought so too. And the new artist has made 'Reed' look a wee bit too humphy-backit.
I prefer the original cover on this one- the muted colours are much more atmospheric and alluring for me.
Same for me, DS. It's hard to top Kirby by merely roughly copying him, but some people who saw the UK covers first when they were kids might prefer them because of the nostalgia factor.
The original hands down. Another favorite Kirby/Sinnott cover. Ron Wilson, with inks likely by Frank Giacoia, do an acceptable job on the re-make.
Yeah, I think Larry Lieber would've made a better job of the re-do, as he was usually closer to Kirby's original.
