SIMON TEMPLAR - DEBONAIR, SOPHISTICATED - AND GAY...?

Here's WARREN MITCHELL (before his days as ALF GARNETT) and ROGER MOORE (plus some burd) in an overdubbed clip from The SAINT.  (Very funny.)  RORY BREMNER does the voice of ST.

(To now see this clip, you'll have to jump over to YouTube to view it there.  Well-worth it.)

By a stranger-than-fiction coincidence, I watched this episode ("The Latin Touch") on YouTube last week.

I didn't recognize the cab driver as "Alf Garnett," but then, I've never seen that show. The American version, All in the Family, became an institution, and "Archie Bunker" is an iconic character.

Rory Bremner sounds so much like Roger Moore, it's downright spooky.

I know about Archie Bunker and his origins, TC, but I've never seen an episode. Roger Moore isn't someone you hear being impersonated often; in fact, Rory apart, I think I've only ever heard one other person 'do' him. (Chris Barrie, who plays Rimmer in Red Dwarf.)

Alistair McGowan also does a great impression of Roger Moore.

"My agent asked me if I wanted to play the important part of Bond.
I said I was willing to play all of him".

I've watched a couple of 'All In The Family' episodes on YouTube including the very first one which features Archie Bunker saying "I am NOT Jewish !!" which Alf Garnett also said.

Warren Mitchell was Jewish, of course, CJ, so I wonder how he felt portraying such a character. Did he ever come to grudgingly like Alf Garnett, or understand what motivated him? It would be interesting to know.
