The CHERILEA CAPED CRUSADERS...

BATMAN & ROBIN copyright DC COMICS

Sometimes I buy things more than once, a perfect example being the above Cherilea Batman & Robin figures sold exclusively in Woolworth's back in the '60s.  In the above photo, I've retouched the paint on Robin, though I've still to attend to Batman.  (The seller's photo below shows them as they arrived on Wednesday.)  The third photo shows the ones I purchased 11 years ago, Batman in September and Robin in November of 2014, again retouched at the time.

So why buy them again I hear you ask.  The price was an absolute steal (for me) as the duo cost less than what some sellers ask for them individually in far worse condition.  I just couldn't pass them up and, besides, it's always nice to have spares.  Did any of you have the Cherilea Caped Crusaders when you were a '60s kid, Crivs?  Share your reminiscences in the comments section.

Never seen these before but they are great. I love the little Bat-Stands they are on as well. Nice paint job. I don't know why but they reminded me of a free gift you might have got in a cereal packet in the 50s/60s/70s. I wonder why they stopped doing those because they are a great selling point, kids always want a free toy or collect a series of cards. I still remember the Doctor Who cards in Weetabix and wish I still had them. They also did Superman cards as well, I still have some of those but probably not the full set.

I think some cereal manufacturers still do giveaways on occasion, M, though maybe not as regularly as they used to. As for the Dynamic Duo, they're not too far removed from Del Boy and Rodney when they were dressed as B&R for a fancy dress party.
