This lovely lass is Wanda Ventham,
actor Benedict Cumberbatch's mother,
believe it or don't. Well, it doesn't take sleuths
like Sherlock Holmes to tell me the bleeding
obvious - that his mother is a complete and
utter babe. (Elementary, Watson.)
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Cool pic. Is it just a publicity photo or from a flick or TV show?
Ventham was a strong villain in CAPTAIN KRONOS.
It's a publicity shot from Gerry Anderson's live-action TV show U.F.O., GP.
Thought so; it had that "posed" look. But I see she did nine episodes, so she might've worn the same outfit for an episode, if I cared to check. I confess I've not watched the show since the US broadcast, despite the babe factor. Would UFO be the UK sci-fi show that came closest to the model of "Roddenberry and the Mini-Skirt Federation?"
I just came across an American comic in which a character summed up the feminine response to babe-watching: "Sometimes they like you to look at their tits-- and sometimes they don't."
I can't think of any other shows, GP, so I guess you're right about UFO being closest to Roddenberry's MSF. Did you mean feminine or feminist? I've found that women don't mind guys who look like Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp looking at their bosoms, but object to fat bald ugly guys doing it. Women, eh?
About ten years ago Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders presented some programmes on Radio 2 over the Christmas period and in one of those programmes they interviewed Dominic Cumberbatch and Wanda Ventham together. I can't fully remember but I don't think it was mentioned that Wanda had been an actress herself and she was described merely as Dominic's mum (there had been several other interviews with famous people and their mums). At that time I had no idea of their relationship and I must admit that the name Wanda Ventham wouldn't have rung a bell anyway - it wasn't until I saw her photo (possibly on Crivens?) that I recognised her.
Kid, do you still read the Power Of The Bee-Sting blog? I hope you don't mind but I left a comment informing the curator Mark about your letter in POTA #8 and that you've got your own blog nowadays. I know he likes to hear these things but I couldn't mention it when he reviewed POTA #8 last December because I hadn't discovered the Bee-Sting blog yet. Anyway I gave the full name of CRIVENS! COMICS AND STUFF! in my comment so he knows about you now!
I haven't looked at it in a while, CJ, but I think I previously left a comment in which I mentioned my blog, but later deleted it when it went unacknowledged. If it wasn't Bee-Sting, it was another blog with which I got confused and mixed-up the two of them as you once pointed out. Nope, don't mind you mentioning Crivens at all - in fact I want you to go door-to-door in your town and tell everyone about it. And who's Dominic Cumberbatch?
Kid, Dominic Cumberbatch is the identical twin brother of Benedict - you mean you've never heard of him???
Nope! I just Googled the name - and though it comes up, it's Benedict that's shown in the photos. "That's 'cos they're twins" you'll say, but I can find no biographical info on him. (Is that 'cos he doesn't exist?)
Yes, Kid, I must shamefacedly admit that I invented Dominic to cover my embarrassment at forgetting Benedict's name but you did google Dominic Cumberbatch so I clearly had you going for a moment!
By the way, Mark of the Bee-Sting blog does read all the comments even if he doesn't reply.
I Googled the name just to confirm that, just as I thought, he didn't exist, so you didn't really have me going for even a moment. (Though if I'd thought he might exist, then you'd have had me going for a very small moment.)
I don't care - not replying is rude so I won't be commenting again - if I even read the blog again, which is doubtful.
