Decided to buy a handful of Avengers weekly comics from eBay recently, just so's I could show you the covers, Crivs. (After all, can't publish any posts if I've nothing to illustrate them with.) The second last one (#95) is the first combined ish of The Avengers and The Savage Sword Of Conan weekly, which was merged into the older mag after 18 issues in its own series. Obviously, UK kids weren't much into sword and sorcery at the time, but I suppose the subsequent success of the monthly mag of the same name suggests they developed a taste for it before too long. If you recall any of these issues, feel free to share your memories of them in our comments section.

Conan's legs are seriously dodgy on this cover, particularly his right one |

I had all of these comics back in the day and still have issues 93 and 95 ( 93 was on my last blog, a wee bit of self promotion there). I always liked the mix of genres/characters at this time in the UK Avengers comic. Some very nice art in these issue.
I also had them, McS, but never kept them for long for some reason. It was seeing 93 on your blog that prompted me to buy this wee run, mainly for the Barry Smith art, even though I've got reprints of Marvel Premiere #3 in colour.
My father died on September 2nd 1999 which was also the 26th anniversary of JRR Tolkien's death and now another 26 years has passed. Today is also 50 years since Rod Stewart's 'Sailing' reached No.1 in the UK.
Shame about your dad, CJ. Funny thing is, 1999 still seems fairly recent to me. And believe it or not, I actually have Rod's 'Sailing' single, bought many years ago, but not when it first came out (AFAIR). In fact, I think it's the only song of his I like.
