DOCTOR WHO WEEKLY COVER GALLERY... (UPDATED)

As promised, here's the Doctor Who Weekly cover gallery for all Who fans. These are comics I've owned since they were first published*, with the exception of #38 which I acquired only recently. Perhaps I'll buy #42 (and maybe a couple more) to round off the numbers, though I haven't decided for sure yet. (42 now added.) Just think - these comics are more than 40 years old, and one glance at them takes me right back to that era faster than I can blink. Have you any memories associated with these comics, Crivvies? *Actually, come to think of it, I own three copies of the first ish, and the one shown here is a later one I acquired. My original first issue is in a folder somewhere, though I think I showed it on the blog a few years back.

Kid said...: Maybe not enough brand-new comic strip content, CJ? The mag is too much of a geek-fest for my tastes nowadays and has been for a long time. They occasionally do some interesting articles, but too many of them are nothing but padding. Their Dalek Special was a masterpiece though.; 11 September 2022 at 02:02
Lionel Hancock said...: I had them all from No 1 but gave it away in 1993. I found once it turned into a monthly it started to get repetitive . I lost count of the number of interviews with Nicholas Courtenay. It was a good magazine though when it first hit the shelves; 12 September 2022 at 03:51

About the artist:

From 1985 to 2000 A.D. (little joke there), I contributed to a variety of high profile comics and magazines for various companies.

For IPC/FLEETWAY/EGMONT, I freelanced as a lettering and logo artist on various weekly comics and monthly magazines, and also as a resize comic artist and spot illustrator on pocket books, summer specials and annuals.

For MARVEL U.K., BLACK LIBRARY, REDAN and USBORNE BOOKS, I again freelanced as a lettering artist, also working as a restoration artist for MARVEL U.S., restoring and re-creating certain pages of JACK KIRBY art for their MARVEL MASTERWORKS editions.

I also lettered the MARVELMAN sample pages submitted to MARVEL U.S. when they were considering acquiring the character, which - as we all now know - they DID.

Supplied comic strips, cartoons and illustrated advertisements for local business campaigns and newspaper publication on a professional basis since the age of 16. Did my first paid art job for publication at 14 or 15 for Lanarkshire Education Board.

Have also made TV appearances as a collector of memorabilia.

(Although, if you don't allow copying on your own site, then you really shouldn't be copying from others, should you?)

And while you can credit this blog if you like, it's not mandatory. Who has time to make notes of every casually visited site during an idle browse of the internet?
