At last! The final 'playmates' page from LITTLE STAR comic. TONTO the TOUCAN seems to be the star of this entry, despite ROSA getting star billing - and that's how it should be. So sod off, Rosa, you're not wanted here. It's drinks all round for everyone else - and guess what, Crivvies? Tonto's taking care of the bill! (Nah, that 'joke' works better with ducks or geese, doesn't it? Oh well, I tried.)

Kid, I'm in tears at the thought of no more playmates posts - life won't be worth living now. I was exactly the right age for this comic when it came out and the name Little Star rings a bell but I honestly don't know if I actually read this comic or not. I may have read these playmates items the first time around and gawped in wonder at what exotic lives these other children supposedly led - of course in reality most of them lived in miserable poverty and I was the lucky one.
In reality, CJ, none of them lived at all. They were just made up by a Little Star writer. (And there ain't no Santa Claus either!)

You mean those playmates weren't real, Kid ?? Drat, another illusion shattered. I was going to say there's something in the bird's mouth then I noticed we had to look for six rings hidden in the picture - gosh, the hours of fun those little readers must have had, the kids today don't know they're born with their smartphones and whatnot. I'm rather amazed that you've even got these comics - that's what I call a serious collector !
I got 26 issues from eBay for about a fiver, CJ. I'd bought at least the first 3 issues when they first came out, so I had to own them again. That's what I call a serious nostalgist.
But why were you buying Little Star when you were 13 ? You must admit that's a bit odd, Kid :)
Tell you what's even odder - you never having read an issue of 2000 A.D. and not knowing about Superman the Movie in 1978. Not get out much? So why is a comic collector buying a new comic odd? Dennis Gifford bought every comic that came out. What do you mean "Who's Dennis Gifford?"
Kid, my list of pop culture "sins" is a lot longer than just Superman and 2000AD - but my apologies if I offended you, I didn't realize you thought of yourself as a collector at age 13 - I mean somebody who had a wide interest in all kinds of comics. Obviously I can see why you'd want them nowadays - but what about girls' comics ? Did you buy them too - I'm very familiar with Mandy, Judy and Misty in particular because my sister used to get them and I read them too.
Of course you didn't offend me, CJ - I was just bantering with you. A boy reading comics for girls? Now THAT'S odd. (I don't do 'smileys' - you'll just have to imagine it.)

No. Little Star was for boys and girls, in the same way that Buster, Whizzer & Chips, The Beano, The Dandy and The Sparky were. Bunty, Mandy, Judy, Misty, etc., were aimed primarily at a female readership. As I'm sure you knew.
All I know about Little Star is it joined up with Twinkle. Twinkle was defiantly a comic for little girls so wasn't Little Star also? Anyway it's all long ago now so perhaps my memory is playing tricks.
Twinkle was indeed a comic for little girls (which is why I never bought it), Little Star was for both genders - and said so on the cover.
And I just noticed I misspelt Denis Gifford's name - only one 'n' in Denis (in his case).
