One of the very best.

I know other artists use photos in the background, but it's Adams that I always associate with the technique

It sure is a stoater, GB.

One of my favourites as well - I think that issue also saw the first appearance of the Human Target backup by Len Wein and Carmine Infantino ( a strip / character that I never managed to get into despite the great art team)

I think you're right, McScotty - especially since it says so along the top of the cover.

Surely Jack Kirby was the master when it came to mixing real photos with illustrations - remember those splash pages in FF where they are in the Negative Zone etc.

Except for the fact that (excluding the odd occasion) they were collages, CJ, not just ordinary, straight photos like in this Neal Adams' cover.

Well I'd say collages were more interesting and clever - those Kirby splash pages were very striking.

Well, one could certainly argue that they were more creative, CJ, but they're not ordinary photos. GB did acknowledge that other artists used photos as backgrounds, it's just that HE happens to associate the practice mainly with Adams.

That Superman bears an uncanny resemblance to the new Batman,Ben Affleck.

Kid said...

Well, he did play 'Superman' (sort of) in Hollywoodland, didn't he?

Indeed, now that baab mentions it ...

I keep forgetting that Kid,that has got to be a first.

It'll be even more of a first when he plays Wonder Woman, Baab.
