JASPER THE GRASPER BY KEN REID...

Copyright REBELLION

Here's a little treat for all fans of the late, great KEN REID's art - the first episode of JASPER The GRASPER from WHAM! #42, cover-dated April 3rd 1965.  Ken only drew six episodes in total before the strip came to an end, but it was revived for COR!! in the early '70s, under the drawing pen of TREVOR METCALFE.

Want to see more?  Then let me know via the comments section.

A side by side of KEN REID's and TREVOR METCALFE's
versions would be cool.
I remember this strip but I would not have seen the first lot.

Ken Reid was a great artist.
Did he draw Jonah(he sinks ships) as well as Faceache ?

I'll see what I can do, Baab. Yes, Ken Reid drew Jonah way back when.

Yep count me in - I had that issue of WHAM! But swapped it for a few Pows (actually I did pretty well out of that swap) - I have never seen an issue of Ken Reids "Jasper" sets other than this one so I would love to see another one please - I wasn't that keen on Trevor Metcalfes version, then again after Ken Reid anything would suffer by comparison.

Funnily enough, McScotty, I equate this strip with Cor!, which is where I first saw it - either in the weekly or an Annual. Like you, I was never too impressed by Trevor Metcalfe's version; there was just something about Reid's style that was hard to beat.

I love Ken Reid's Jasper the Grasper, I had a go at copying it myself. Me and my mate Martin used to copy some of his monster drawings as well. Fantasia inspirational work

All six of Ken Reid's Jasper The Grasper strips are reprinted in the Cor!! Annual for 1972, J, so you should keep an eye out for one on eBay if you prefer the real deal to a digital image on a screen.
