Just had to show this cover - simply because it reminds me of being a boy back in the '60s. The artist could be either MICK ANGLO or WALTER HOWARTH (or someone else entirely), but I'm not 100% certain. Anyone know for sure? It's a great cover though, isn't it? "Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed..."

What always struck me about these things was that the artists, while undoubtedly competent craftsmen, had no feeling for the material whatsoever.
Quite understandable - they were from a different generation, after all (and a job's a job) - but it was missing or messing up on the small details that made work like this slightly frustrating to a pre-puberty obsessive like me.
It didn't have that look of absolute authenticity, which I find endlessly fascinating these days as a grumpy old bugger-the-detail codger.
I know what you're saying, B, but there were so many slightly 'off-model' Batmen in those days, that I soon made allowances for any slight differences. There's still something about that cover that grabs me 'though.
It looks very similar to me to the first set of BatMan bubblegum cards. Could it be the same artist?
I don't think it is, JP, but to be honest, it's anyone's guess at the moment as to who the artist is.
Walter Howarth, I have a signed variation. Bob
Ta much, Bob.
