Centre Cap is by Pedigree Toys from 1968 and the other two are by Vivid Imaginations from '93 and '01 respectively.  25 years separate the first two figures, yet the  quarter of a century interval between them didn't result in any improvements and the '68 Cap is definitely the best of the three.  So much for progress, eh?  Got a favourite, Crivvies?  Then imagine, if you will, you're a kid again - which of the trio would you prefer to find in your stocking on Christmas day?

The only Cap Scarlet I liked was the bendy model. Of the 3 here I would pick the middle one as it's the best quality.
And the manufacturer of both '60s Caps was Pedigree, McS. The bendy one was bought for me in or around Largs in 1968 when we were on holiday there. The middle Cap is not only the best quality out of the three shown, it also offered more play value as it was an actual 'action figure', with the same body as Tommy Gunn (also made by Pedigree). I'll track down a bendy one before too much longer, I hope.
What I find interesting is the variations in colours including skin tone. Captain Right looks like the Asian Captain Scarlet. Captain Left looks as though he has a tan as well although not quite as severe. Captain Centre tries so very hard to have the correct skin tone but doesn't quite make it. His reds are also too dark and hardly scarlet. Also Captain Centre looks like Action Man in a CS suit and is too short compared to Left and Right. For those reasons I have to go for Captain Left as my favourite but then I always did prefer the sinister things in life.
The colours probably don't reproduce as they actually are, M, 'cos of the camera flash hitting them, but the two newer Caps' outfits seem a little too bright to me, with centre Cap's tunic being more like how I remember the TV version. The lips on all three versions are far more pink in the photos than they look 'in the flesh', so we'll just have to put it down to the vagaries of photography, especially with 'idiot-proof' cameras.
Interestingly, centre Cap's face looks more like Ron Embleton's illustrations in the end credits than the actual puppet, while the other two - especially Cap on the right - looks more like the puppet. Left and right definitely look more like dolls though, than centre Cap.
Ah yes, silly me didn't realise that middle Cap was the same one from a few posts ago where I described him as excellent. Those photos are better and I've changed my mind to Captain Centre being my favourite. I'm so fickle.
As am I, M. My romantic affections were always switching between Susan Storm, Supergirl, The Wasp, and Wanda The Scarlet Witch.
