RIVETING REPOST: THE SECOND DOCTOR DOOM...

From SMASH! Annual 1967

Believe it or not, there once used to be two DOCTOR DOOMs inhabiting the same comics universe.  As well as MARVEL's Doom, there was also the evil adversary of The MAN From B.U.N.G.L.E., who appeared weekly in SMASH!, stablemate to WHAM!, which had The FANTASTIC FOUR.  Both publications fell under the POWER COMICS banner, both reprinted Marvel strips, and some of the U.K. humour strips occasionally referred to the Marvel ones (like The HUMBUGS in Wham! mentioning the FF one week).

So for any U.S. readers unaware of the fact, here's the second Doctor Doom trying to do away with The Man from B.U.N.G.L.E.  Okay, okay - yours existed first!  (But ours was funnier!)

(And, as revealed here, there was yet another Doctor Doom, who was the foe of LITTLE ARCHIE.  I guess that makes our DD the third one, not the second.  Nope, scratch that - DC had a Doctor Doom who fought BATMAN in #158 of DETECTIVE COMICS way back in 1950.  Ta to TC for the info.)

(And there's more! See BR's info in the comments section.)

And to save you having to turn your computer screen upside down, here's the SOLUTION:

BARRATT'S THUNDERBIRDS SWEET CIGARETTE CARDS - PART ONE...

A good while back I promised to show you the THUNDERBIRDS cards included in packets of Sweet Cigarettes produced by BARRATT.  Well, it's taken longer than anticipated, but here at last is the first 10 of them.  More will be along before you know it, you lucky Criv-ites you.

ZOUNDS! The EVEN MIGHTIER THOR...

Back in 1973 when The MIGHTY WORLD Of MARVEL #20 ran a double-page ad for the new SPIDER-MAN COMICS WEEKLY #1, they utilised a copy of the original cover proof of JOURNEY Into MYSTERY #83 for the 2nd page - with one difference.  THOR was 'beefed up' a little in the arms and legs department, though his torso remained untouched.  We've seen quite a bit of the original pic around here recently, but I thought you could stand seeing it again from its 1973 outing.  (Who's gonna kick sand in his face, eh?)

(Actually, his left arm remained untouched, but 'arm and legs department' doesn't really sound quite right, does it?)

BABE Of The DAY - BERNADETTE PETERS...

Here's BERNADETTE PETERS
sizzling in a slinky little black number.  I
dunno what it is about gals hanging out of
their dresses that does it for me, but there's
at least a couple of things I can't put my
 finger on (without getting slapped).

SPOT The DIFFERENCE: The FANTASTIC FOUR #11...

Well, in this one the differences are obvious, aren't they?  In the production stat above (I'll call them 'cover proofs' from this point on), SUSAN is far too tall and BEN is far too small in relation to her.  Solution?  Redraw Susie smaller (and give her a haircut as well), and lengthen Ben's leg to make him appear taller.  (Still not tall enough in my estimation.)  The original version saw print, in colour, in 1973 as an ad for MWOM #23 in sister publication SMCW #4.  (And turn in your F.O.O.M. card and hang your head in shame if you don't know what those esteemed initials stand for, not-so-frantic one.)
