I know I've already got at least one individual reprint of this mag (maybe two), not counting collected editions that include the tale, but it's great to have a facsimile which contains all the original ads and letters page. I've only had a cursory glance through it since it arrived on Saturday morning, but it looks good to my tired old eyes, with no faults that I can detect at a casual glance. If you're a Spider-Man or Morbius fan, why not give yourself a treat and buy this classic as soon as you can?! Even if you've got the original or a previous reprint, it's always good to have a spare.

You know what’s funny I know I read this story way back in the 70s but I don’t own this comic. I’m sure it was a reprint but I don’t recall if it was Mighty World of Marvel, Spideys own U.K. comic or a US reprint .
I suspect it may have been one of the 'landscape' mags, PS, like the combined Super Spider-Man & Captain Britain - one of those type of mags.
Just a few months before the landscape format commenced....
This story was reprinted in SMCW issue 139 and 140 Phil (landscape version of SMCW) with cover presented here being used for issue 149. Would love to say that's from memory but I was looking out my old Marvel UK comics earlier today and these issues are two of a handful I still have (well about 30 odd issues). I might get that facsimile edition as I never had the US original.
Now I'm confused. You say it was before landscape,CN, McS says it WAS landscape. Sometimes it's hard to be sure. For example, Marvel reprinted some of the early X-Men tales in two different mags at different times. One may have been The Super-Heroes, the other was definitely The Titans. I ain't digging through a cupboard to find out, so anyone know for sure?

Nope sorry my fault guys it was indeed portrait andNOT landscape, I got my bames mixed up. I'lll get me cost!
Just checked online and it looks like the first landscape issue of Spidey's comic was 158 which actually featured Morbius again. But to clear up my mistake and predictive text boo-boo . AMS 101 was reprinted in SMCW portrait version issue 139 and 140 and cover of AMS 101 was used in SMCW 140 ,😔
Never mind, McS, we got there in the end. And CN gets a Blue Peter badge for being right.

I can't remember whether I remember the cover on SMCW or not, CJ. Must be getting old.
There was a What If issue based around Spidey keeping his extra arms. I'm pretty sure I read that before the original story. Nice splash page there by Mr Kane and Mr Giacoia!
Can't recall if I ever read it, DS, but I'm sure I saw it somewhere.
Just received my copy today. Thanks for keeping us all posted on these facsimile editions.
Have just to read it, but looking through it the Kane/Giacoia art is better than I remembered it but the colouring is a little too bright for my taste. Something that was an unexpected bonus was the reproduction of the Marvelmania Steranko ad. The work by Steranko, even in miniature, really comes to life.

I think I'd prefer the interiors to be printed on matt paper, S64, but I'm getting used to what they use as the reproduction is really quite sharp. Facsimile Editions, True Believers, and old back issues is what I mainly buy these days, with an occasional newbie. Says a lot for the US comics scene, eh?
