RECOMMENDED READING: TWO DC FACSIMILE EDITIONS FOR YOUR COLLECTION...

Copyright DC COMICS

A couple of recent releases, Crivs, that some of you may be interested in.  First up, above, is the Facsimile Edition, of Secret Origins [of] Super Villains, which is one I'm pretty sure I had, as many of the interior pages seem familiar to me, with the exception of the Batman/Red Hood story, which I don't recall from this mag.  I know the story from a Giant Batman issue I bought in Rothesay in 1970, but if I recognised it again in the above mag at the time, I've since forgotten, unusually for me.

Next up, below (yes, I'm aware that's a contradiction-in-terms), is the first ish of the two-part Alan Moore story that brought to a conclusion the Silver and Bronze Age eras of Superman, before John Byrne (and others) launched a new direction for the character, in the wake of Crisis On Infinite Earths that revised the entire history of the DC Universe.  I still have my original issues, and it's quite a jolt to realise they're now 40 years old.  Rush out and buy these great facsimiles today.

I think I had the Super-villains edition as well but IAM also unsure about that ( must be an age thing). However, the Superman facsimile was one that I missed and this looks interesting. Is this one a standard sized comic or a large version Kid?

Standard-sized, McS, with excellent reproduction all the way through. The 2nd half of the tale in the Action Comics #583 facsimile is due out soon(ish).

I prefer standard sized comics so I will add this one to my list of comic book purchases this month.

The good thing is, it's not an obvious facsimile as it's almost indistinguishable from the original, McS.

McS, remember you gave me a Conan album and a MWOM comic a good while back, so you're already ahead - no need for anything else. I had to go shopping before your message arrived, so I'll wrap up the comic tonight and post it tomorrow.

Thanks Kid that's very kind.

Thanks Kid I look forward to reading the comic when it arrives. I hope things are a bit better for you and your mum

Thanks, McS, though my experience thus far is that the Care Home is incapable of improving. Would be nice if they could prove me wrong.

I loved those Limited Collector Editions. They had some great content that helped bring me up to date on DC's characters. Marvel Treasury Editions were the same. I loved all the reprints of stories I had missed.

I've got quite a number of the DC Limited Collectors' Editions now, G, though most of them are facsimiles. My Marvel Treasury Editions are originals though, as Marvel haven't done any facsimiles - apart from the Supes/Spidey team-ups.

I just arrived home from a wee trip to Strathaven to find a beautifully addressed package waiting for me. Even more of a surprise was that in addition to the Superman #423 facsimile issue you said you would and me there were also 2 issues of the Conan Saga monthly , issue 166 of the FF and a FOOM (2017) mag. Very generous and kind of you, thank you again I love every one of them . And the Conan Saga issue 24 has a Mike Ploog story I have been after for ages !

Well, that's a shock and pleasant surprise to me at the same time, McS, as when I asked when it would arrive, I was told Tuesday or Wednesday. I enquired how much it would cost for next day delivery and was given a price of over £16, which I thought excessive. Glad I didn't choose that option as it turned up the next day anyway. Enjoy!
