I always enjoyed Lyndsay Wagner on TV ( apart from looking amazing she was a really good TV actress) - She still looks good for a lady in her 60s. I remember the short lived remake of the Bionic Woman, had its good points but not a patch on the original IMHO
The photographer that took that photo should have put a heater on for Lyndsay itlooks to me like it was a wee bit chilly :)
Never saw the remake, McScotty - 'though Michelle Ryan (if that's her name) is also one hot babe. Wonder what Lyndsay's doing these days - apart from standing in for coathooks, that is.
Lyndsay comes over to the UK every June for the London EXPO, where she delivers speeches on homeopathy and natural medicine [she's very into alternate therapy]. Ive attended two of her lectures/demonstations [purely as a fan of hers - I couldn't care less about the subject matter!]. Always been a long-term fan of Lyndsay, and she had quite the life before she became Jaime Sommers in the last two episodes of Six Million Dollar Man in its second season, she beat off competition from Sally Field and Stephanie Powers for the role. But what a life she led before! A [secret] teenage marriage to a music mogul which was quickly annulled, a stint as a Playboy bunny, and she lived with a guy who ended up going to Vietnam and getting killed. And her exciting life didn't stop after the Bionic Woman ended...she became queen of the mini-series during the 80s with endless tv movies, plus six more marriages [and divorces]. She recently turned up on Warehouse 13 too. Im still a member of her fanclub and proudly hold the cute flower symbol charm given to all members. With the latest SMDM Season Six comic now out, later this Autumn we will see a continuation of the BW series with BW; Season Four, I for one cant wait!
As well as her other attributes doesn't she also prove that a woman can be popular in an action role ? The Bionic Woman was successful so what's the problem with ,say, a Wonder Woman film (or any female superhero)- the Bionic Woman was a female superhero wasn't she ?
Well, yes and no, CJ. She wasn't presented so much as a 'superhero', but as a secret agent, who had enhanced attributes as a result of technology - nor did she wear a costume. Now, I'm aware that some superheroes would also fit that description, but they're usually presented in a more obvious superhero format.
that's a great picture, man. she was more of a looker than I remember. of course, around the the time that Bionic Woman was on, I was slightly obssessed with the Page 3 girl Gillian Duxbury, so I may have been looking the other way. . .
Gillian Duxbury was my fave back in the '70s, and in the '90s (I think) there was another page 3 girl called Danni Wheeler who was very similar. We're a couple of pervs, Joe.
Charlie's Angels, Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter), and Jaime Sommers all proved that women could be popular in action roles.
Originally, the Jaime character was supposed to be killed off at the end of that Six Million Dollar Man two-parter, but she proved so popular that the character was brought back and even went on to star in her own spinoff series. (About twenty years later, the same thing happened with Lucy Lawless as Xena.)
I've loved Lindsay since I was a teenager. Her vulnerability appealed to my paternal instincts, even though she's about ten years older than I.
Well, OK, she appeals to certain other male instincts, too. :)
