FRANKENSTEIN (1931) TRAILER...

Relive the chills, spills and thrills of a distant age in
another century, as Big BORIS dons his oversized
boots for the very first time.  KARLOFF is king!

A wonderful movie.

It's hard to fully appreciate the impact this would have had in 1931. Most of us have seen more recent horror films with graphic violence and gore, making the old classics seem tame by comparison. And modern audiences have seen so many parodies and imitations (Herman Munster, Lurch, Young Frankenstein, Frankenberry) that younger viewers might even laugh at the sight of the monster.

Karloff, like Lugosi as Dracula, became iconic. Successors either emulated him, or deliberately tried to do something different. Either way, the 1931 version was an influence.

A wonderful movie indeed, Baab, but it could have done with a music soundtrack, like Bride had.

In my view, TC, Karloff's monster has never been topped. If it doesn't have the Jack Pierce make-up, it isn't the monster.
