BABE OF THE DAY - DORIS DAY...

As you all know by now, DORIS DAY passed away a few days ago.  In tribute to her, here's a song that I associate more with The MAMAS & The PAPAS, but Doris does a pretty good version as well.  She sure was some chanter.

When I heard Doris Day had died I went to YouTube to listen to Move Over Darling which is my favourite song of hers. She also did a great version of Winter Wonderland which she sang as a slow ballad.

I've got her Christmas album (CD), plus one or two other of her albums, CJ. Love Me Or Leave Me is a great song.

While I do not own any of her albums she was a great singer and had personality. Of the old school crooners who were around during ww2, I can only distinguish a few. Judy Garland, Doris Day and on a good day Jo Stafford. Alas there were many female singers of the time who while good, I find hard to separate from each other .

Some of my favourite female singers are: Peggy Lee, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Sarah Vaughn, k.d. lang, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Lena Horne, Nina Simone, and quite a few others whose names escape me for the moment.
