I've just learned the sad news (as reported on other sites) that DAN ADKINS, oft-times assistant to the late, great WALLY WOOD and a talented artist in his own right, died last month at the age of only 76. Dan pencilled and inked tons of stuff throughout the '60s, working on TOWER COMICS' T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS mags with Woody, and also drawing some DOCTOR STRANGE and X-MEN strips for MARVEL COMICS. He did much more than that, but I'll leave it to those better versed in the man's career to give a far more comprehensive account of the artist's accomplishments in their own coverage of Mr. Adkin's far-too early demise.

That's a shame. He was always one of my favourite inkers.
And mine, Steve. Top-notch artist.
One of the greats, and someone who unquestionably belongs in the comics art hall of fame.
Very true, CF - he's in MY comics art hall of fame at the very least.
Lee/Ditko was a hard act to follow, but some of the stuff in Mr. Adkin's run on Doc Strange was crazy as hell. I'd love to have the complete run, someday. A tip of the hat to a great artist.
The Essential Doctor Strange volume 1 reprints (in B&W) every Dr Strange story from Strange Tales before he was given his own mag. There's also two softcover Marvel Masterworks editions that do the same thing, but this time in full colour. I've got the latter and they're brilliant.
