METHINKS THE 'TROLLS' DO PROTEST TOO MUCH...

I'm not a fan of the word 'Troll', but I use it in the title in an ironic way, seeing as that's the word used by a certain person to describe me.  Anyway, my last post, published in response to his devious distortion of events on another forum, seems to have brought the worms out of the woodwork.

Here's a sample of their well-reasoned and thoughtfully-considered comments (along with my answers) which they seemingly couldn't live without sharing with me.

******

"Wow you look a lot like a peado Kid." - Anon.

(Should stop hanging around with paedos then, seeing as how you claim to know what one looks like.  I see that you can't spell the word correctly 'though.  Finding remedial class difficult?)

******

"Complete horseshit." - Anon.

(Yes, that's what I thought after reading your comment.)

******

"How sad is your life??"  - Anon.

(At a guess, I'd say probably about ten times less sad than yours.)

******

"Do you masturbate whilst you write these things?" - Alistair Robb.

(Did it give you a thrill to type the word 'masturbate'?)

******

Ah, the joys of being a blogger, eh?

******

Here's the latest from Beanodobber.  Nice of him to prove he can't draw.  As for success, working on a comic with less than 40,000 issues sold per week, at the lowest wages possible - that's success?  I made far more dosh doing lettering in a week than his pal ever made - even when he freelanced for IPC.

And again.

And just for comparison, here's one of mine.

Beanodobber when he had hair.  Drawn in 1998

And another.

Uninked caricature.  Drawn in 2005

Well, I certainly know which person  I'd prefer to have working for me if I were a publisher.

******

And here's another of Beanodobber's scribbles.

And below is a photocopy of a pencil drawing I did 33 years ago.  Not bad for a 'third-rate doodler', eh?  Hopefully it'll scare the schecht out of Beanodobber - or at least make him realise that he's out of his depth in every way.

Errrr and these comments were generated from a "discussion" on comics lol dear lord that is pathetic in so many ways, - I enjoy football and go to the odd Scottish lower league game (your from my area so you know the folk that attend these, nice folk but not the most sophisticated or cultured ) and I ve never heard things like that being said (ok most of the guys just spout expletives) some really strange and worrying comments from "adults" there regardless of there being any percieved reason for them to be upset - I was thinking of doing a blog but not now Id need theropy if said that about me - McScotty

lol I see one of the twins continues to go on on his twitter site, think you've inspired his muse!!!

Just a shame I couldn't have inspired some talent in him.

Just to say I've not really followed what the dispute is about but I dislike any kind of rudeness on the Internet ,or elsewhere! I very much enjoy your blog as I love both British and Us comics of the 60s and 70s.you put a lot of effort in and it's a superb blog

Thanks very much, Gary. I hope you enjoy the blog for some time yet to come.

McScotty, I left a response to your comment, but I must've inadvertently deleted it somehow. I'd said that if you can avoid rising to the bait which certain dobbers will dangle in front of you (which I often can't), then you may well enjoy doing a blog of your own. As I'd originally said, it's something I'd certainly like to see.

"Actually, I'm constantly updating my posts in pursuit of clarity and conciseness,"

Constantly? Don't you mean continually?

Continually means regularly or frequently. Constantly means without interruption, 24/7, like you breathe constantly or continuously day and night, but it has negative connotations, as in you're constantly in pain for which you have continually to take medication. So ironically you'll have to update your post yet again to correct another error. Actually you'll have to update it three times now to correct all the gaffes, plus you wouldn't have inadvertently deleted McScotty's response, if you'd kept your eye on the ball.

If you were updating your posts constantly, you'd never have a moment for anything else. Mind you, you do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on forums and blogs and similar timewasters. You obviously don't have as much current work as the cartoonists you continually harass, which is a shame as you have some considerable technical talent, but any industry insider (I wonder who that might be), looking at what you write as opposed to what you draw, would just file you under 'Too Sly To Work With'.

"By all means though, feel free to share your suggestions - even if, with your very first comment(?), you have already revealed your own fallibility."

No, you completely overlooked my follow-up post, but then an industry insider would quickly tell you that you're well practised at that elsewhere.

I know what I mean, as do you. The words are often used, quite legitimately, in a synonymous way, quite apart from the fact that constant periods can have beginnings and endings. (For six hours, the noise was constant.) As I can often spend maybe an hour or more at a time amending my posts, my use of the word is quite correct.

But thanks for confirming my suspicion that you're an @rsehole, which I'm sure anyone (industry insider or not) who knows you could probably have told me.

As for your follow-up, post - no, I didn't overlook it, I simply recognised it for the feeble excuse for your own imperfection that it undoubtedly was.

And you seem to spend an inordinate amount of time composing tripe of the sort with which you have just tried to harass me. And your switch from 'any industry insider' (suggesting absolutely anyone who works in the industry - plural) to 'I wonder who that can be?' (suggesting one particular individual - singular) is another of your mistakes. Unless you meant 'an' of course, but - either way - you boobed.

Now, having beaten you at your own game, don't bother wasting your time (or mine) with a response - it won't be read or published.

Low circulation comic long past its glory days which pays a pittance to its artists. Yes, you're definitely jealous kid. I get 30 grand a year working in an office, more with overtime. I'm jealous too. You're the one being targeted but know what? you should ignore them. Not worth the hassle.

Your definatly a good artist but is it fair comparing his doodles to proper art?

Kid said...

Well, it's hardly my fault that 'his doodles' are the only examples he's presented so far. That I'm aware of anyway. (I think you'll find it's 'definitely' by the way.)

Anonymous said...

Your the better artist but both styles made me laugh.

Why do trolls and trouble makers always hide there identity?
Are they affraid of something?

Kid said...

Yes, Paul. Being identified for the losers they really are. Then they can claim a 'dignified response' publicly, while spouting their venom and hatred under the cloak of anonymity.

Some are consumed with a need to have the last word, which is a tad ambitious (to say nothing of optimistic) when I don't have to publish their comments. (Or even read them in most cases.)

Anonymous said...

now you shown he's a liar, he says he's not rising to the bait. what he means is he can't disprove your proof

Kid said...

It's there for all to see, Anon. Anyone who can't see it doesn't WANT to see it.

Anonymous said...

he says your just trolling for attention and he's not going to respond to your remarks

Kid said...

I don't see how I can be accused of 'trolling' (an infantile word used by the egotistical to describe anyone who disagrees with them) on my own blog. Another example of his double-standards: If I respond to a comment, I'm 'trolling' - when he does it, it's a different story.

Of course he's not going to respond - he doesn't have any ammo with which to put up a convincing defence.

Update: I've removed some of the more inane comments to spare readers the tedium of having to wade through them. Some comments may therefore refer to others that no longer exist. Don't worry, you haven't missed much.
