CLOUD OF A BILLION LIGHTS...

Remember the great Century 21 mini albums that used to be around in the '60s?  To celebrate Fireball XL5's 60th anniversary, Anderson Entertainment has just released a new addition to the series, as you can see above.  An all-new voice cast has been assembled who, while they don't do precise impersonations of the originals, manage to capture the spirit of those who went before.  It's good to hear Gerry's son Jamie follow in his father's footsteps by assuming the role of Robert the Robot, thus bestowing a nice touch of 'continuity' to this well-produced collectors' item, limited to only 1,000 pieces.

You can order one from The Official Gerry Anderson Store at this link.

Kid, I assume you've heard that Jodie Whittaker's Doctor regenerated into David Tennant? I don't know what's happening there but it's all part of an ingenious plotline no doubt.

Yup, I heard, CJ, but I have no plans to ever watch any of her episodes (though I hear David Bradley was in her last one and I wouldn't mind seeing that particular clip). I hear ratings have plummeted under her tenure.

Not just David Bradley but also Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Katy Manning and Bonnie Langford. Those were all cameos but the Whittaker finale also featured major roles for Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Sophie Aldred (Ace). Janet Fielding was totally unrecognisable from her early '80s Who heyday.

Yeah, I knew about the others, CJ, but Bradley as the first Doctor is the only one I'd have been interested in seeing as he's so good in the part. I'd have had what's her face regenerate into the first Doc, then we could look forward to seeing three episodes featuring him.

CJ forgot to mention the appearance of William Russell one of the original companions who will be 98 this month !!

Good ol' William Russell. He's made cameos before in various related Dr. Who shows.

Colin Jones said...

Yes, William Russell too - I probably forgot him because I remember all the others from their time on Dr Who but William Russell was on the show before I was born!

No need to rub it in that you're younger than the rest of us decrepit old farts, CJ.

Dr Who has well gone off the rails. Dr What more likely. What was once an enjoyable Sci Fi show has become a very confused Gender based load of shit. When Dr Who is on screen my TV is in the off position. I have now had my rant. Fireball XL5 by the was was the best πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I'll maybe watch the upcoming three new David Tennant episodes, LH, but I'm not sure about the next guy yet. Never watched any of JW's, so maybe it's time for me to quit the show for good. Yup, my heart is still a Fireball, too!

I scored a Kingly Critter with a complete crown of four prongs. Christmas did come early. I now have a full complete set πŸ₯³

Kid said...

Well done, LH. I've also got a complete set, but my King's crown has only 3 prongs. Would you consider a cash bribe, plus an exchange of my 3-pronged crown for yours? And, if I can be nosy, did it cost much?

Getting it was a fluke. One of my buddies from my school days had it. We were chatting about the old days and the subject of toys in Cornflakes came up. That's when he said he a few still . And two were kinglys. He donated one to me.

Kid said...

Would he sell the other one, do you think? I'd be prepared to give £15 plus my 3-pronged crown for a 4-pronged one. I'd keep my original King, it's just it's just the crown I'm interested in.

Lionel Hancock said...

I asked but not interested. I think I was lucky to get what I got. He had an old series of Robin Hood figurines from the early 60s as well.

And how about you, LH? £15 and a 3-pronged crown in exchange for your 4-pronger? (Oo-er, missus.)
