Here's yet another DC Limited Collectors' Edition I didn't have at the time, but I've got it now - or at least a Facsimile Edition of it. I've previously read two of the stories elsewhere, but the remainder are new to me. I love such publications because, not only do they take me right back to the '70s when the originals first went on sale, but also because there's usually an interesting mix of reprints in them. Plus, they also give me material for Crivens so that you lot have something to look at when you're not watching paint dry. So what else can I say - feast your eyes on the images on display. And if you had this one when it was first released, feel perfectly free to declare it to the world via our captivating comments section.
No comments yet? What's the matter with you lot - don't like Christmas?

I have the Batman and the Bernie Wrightson stories, the rest are new to me.
That's the same two I have, McS, in other publications.
The Complete FF #13 and 14 featured a two-part story in which the Torch and Medusa get stranded in the Himalayas and then get captured by Ternak who plans to conquer the world by turning it into a frozen wilderness. Anyway those two issues came out on December 14th and 21st 1977 so they always remind me of my first Christmas in secondary school and the story's snowy theme only added to the "Christmassy" feel at the time.
It's always good when the winter weather in the story coincides with real life, CJ, and makes the tale more memorable. I remember it was snowy in Daredevil #53, as it was in my home town the day I bought it (the comic, not the town), and I've got fond memories of it to this day. As you know, I still have my original issues of The Complete Fantastic Four and I remember the two-parter you mention.
In 1976 the Marvel weeklies had a festive back cover which featured Captain Britain in the centre with the Hulk and Spider-Man on either side of him and various Marvel characters in the background (including a gorilla because POTA was still a Marvel weekly at that point). I liked that image so much that I used it as a pin-up on my bedroom wall for several Christmases afterwards.
I believe that page is on the blog somewhere, CJ, so you could always print it out and have it up on your wall once more. I think you commented on it at the time as well.
I haven't got a printer, Kid.
Save the pic to a USB stick, take it in to your local library, and they should be able to print it out for you, CJ. Problem solved.
I was totally unaware that this was coming out.....I'll see if I can snag one from my LCS. I miss that DC comics don't seem to do traditional Christmas/Holiday comics anymore. I think the last one I bought was Nuclear Winter Special, which was full of cynicism when optimism was needed.
Anyway - Merry Christmas, Kid!
And Merry Christmas to you, too, when it comes, B. I just bought the Christmas Beano yesterday (the weekly comic, not the Special), so I'll show some of that on the blog at some stage before (or on) the big day.
I managed to get a copy yesterday and enjoyed reading it. I read on Duncan McAlpine's site that it never appeared in the UK at the time. I presume that the time delay in getting it into UK newsagents would have made it only available after Christmas.
I don't think I've ever seen it before, outside of ads, B, but DC did Christmas-themed regular comics which must've appeared after the 25th, so I don't think it would've stopped people buying it if it hadn't appeared in shops 'til February or whatever. Glad I've got one now though.
