Saddened to learn that actress Brigit Forsyth, who, among many other acclaimed roles, played Thelma Chambers/Ferris in classic BBC TV comedy show 'Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads' back in the early '70s, has died at the age of 83. Sincere condolences to her family, friends, and fans. For a Scots lass, she did a mean Geordie accent.

Sad news , I was stunned to read Bridget was 83 , then agai I forget how long ago she appeared in "Whatever happened to the likely lads" , and I'm getting on in years as well . Although she considered herself Scottish ( having lived in Edinburgh ) Bridget was actually born in Yorkshire , so maybe that S why she was so good at the Geordie accent.
Curiously, McS, on some sites, it says she was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and on others Yorkshire. However, whatever the case, she seems to have been of Scottish ancestry and can rightly be considered a Scot - especially as that's how she regarded herself. She's now on the Elm Lodge housing estate, catching up with Rodney Bewes.
According to Wikipedia Brigit's birthday was on July 28th which was also my mother's birthday. In recent years Brigit played the role of Pearl in the Radio 4 comedy 'Ed Reardon's Week' but she didn't appear in the latest series from a few months ago. I intend to watch the 1974 festive episode of 'Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads' on YouTube before too long.
I've got the DVD box set of the series, CJ, so I'll probably watch the Christmas episode again as well. Have you ever seen the movie? Probably the best film adaptation of a TV comedy series ever made.

Kid, I've just heard that 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' by Brenda Lee has reached #1 on America's Billboard Hot 100 music chart 65 years after it was first released in 1958 so it's taken your entire lifetime to finally reach the top!

Have you put up your Christmas trees yet, Kid?
They've been up all year since last Christmas, CJ. Wasn't fit enough to take down my decorations and put them back up in the loft because of balance problems. Now have to use a 'stroller' (with a seat on it) to get around. Thinking about clearing out the cupboard under the stairs and storing my trees and decorations in there from now on.
I don't have that problem, Kid, because my only decorations are 20 LED fairy lights draped over a concertina clothes-dryer in my bedroom - it doesn't sound like much but they look very festive when switched on.
I've got so many Christmas decorations and ornaments, CJ, that I don't have the space to display them every year. I usually have to rotate some of them from year-to-year and my living-room is bedecked with absolutely loads of them. They create a great festive atmosphere that reminds me of my childhood Christmases. The main tree and several items actually pre-date my existence on the planet.
