She had a hard act to follow re Mrs peel but did a damn good job.
Especially as the show was becoming a bit more ludicrous by the time she joined, LH. I fancied Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, and Linda Thorson, But Joanna Lumley's Purdey never did it for me.
By the time Joanna Lumley joined, The Avengers had played out .Steed was just a grinning face and the new Characters were all plastic. I have no desires to watch any of the episodes again.
Yeah, it never really grabbed me, LH. I wasn't keen on Joanna Lumley's plummy voice, Gareth Hunt was only there to provide the action because Patrick MacNee was getting on a bit, and he was only there just so they could include the word 'Avengers' in the title. Steed worked better with a female partner, having another male partner changed the dynamic.
