The SUPER HEROES COVER & IMAGE GALLERY - SIXTH & FINAL PART...

Images copyright DC COMICS

For all those craving their CRIVENS! fix, here's a cracking cornucopia of cataclysmic covers and captivating comicbook pages from the British monthly mag known as The SUPER HEROES, published in the early '80s.  These five issues were the last in the series, alas, so get yourself comfy and savour the images laid before you.

I've seen some of these mags for sale in America on eBay, but whether or not they were originally distributed in the U.S. in the '80s or were sent by U.K. relatives, I couldn't say for sure.  If any State-side readers can shed light on the matter, then feel free.

Remember, if you want to see any of the images larger, click on them, and then click again for optimum size.  Happy viewing to discerning Criv-ites everywhere.  Only the best is good enough for you!

DON STARR In "The LIVING DOLLS" - PART THREE...

Copyright relevant owner

Ready and eager to embark on the next instalment of TERRIFIC's DON STARR adventure?  Good, 'cos here it is.  I haven't yet located my POWER COMICS INDEX to find out the name of the artist on this series, so, if you know, feel free to share it with your fellow Criv-ites.  As far as I know it wasn't a reprint, but it was certainly prepared for a more traditional sized British comic because it shows evidence of re-sizing to fit Terrific's page dimensions.

However, I'm sure that's neither here nor there and will bother you not a jot.  Enjoy!

PART TWO Of WHAM! #1 - SUPER BIRTHDAY FREE GIFT...

Copyright REBELLION

As promised, here's the second part of WHAM #1, published by ODHAMS PRESS back in June 1964 as a direct competitor to D.C. THOMSON's The BEANO.  The comic lasted for around three-and-a-half years, The Beano is still with us today, so you can make up your own minds as to which of the two weeklies came best in that particular circulation battle.  However, it was a brilliant periodical during its lifespan and is still fondly remembered today.  (Mainly by decrepit old farts like myself, it has to be said.)

And you now have the complete first issue in your comics collection, you lucky Criv-ites - am I good to you or what?  (Did someone just say "What"?)

And here's an ad for the upcoming launch of the first issue...

SUPER FREE BIRTHDAY GIFT - WHAM! #1 (PART ONE)...

Copyright REBELLION

Would you believe it?  While all us ancient fogeys forgot the birthday of an old friend, young GEORGE SHIERS over on WACKY COMICS remembered that WHAM! #1 came out 50 years ago this week.  Recognising a good idea for a blog post when I see it, I thought I'd reward George and all fans of ODHAMS PRESS' premier POWER COMIC ('though it didn't become one 'til later) by presenting (in two parts) the complete first ish of LEO BAXENDALE's 'Super BEANO' from June 1964.

So enjoy the first half (almost) of  this super collectors' item classic - and don't forget to come back for Part Two!

And here's an ad for Wham! leading up to its launch...

...and one as it hit the shops.
