I don't know why I do it, but I do! I've already got the original version of this new Facsimile Edition of Superman Vs. The Flash, but simply had to have this one when I saw it was available. Enjoy the few images on display here, then run out and buy one for yourself. You can hug it, and love it, and call it George - or any other name you like, though personally, I'll continue to call it Superman Vs. The Flash, 'cos I'm not a weirdo. Did you have this issue back in the day? Feel free to share your thoughts and memories of it in our ever-lovin' comments section. (Incidentally, it also contains some pages of Neal Adams artwork, but you'll have to buy your very own copy to see them.) Did you hear what I said, McS? NEAL ADAMS!
I have the original version that I picked up in the 1980s which I recently showed on my blog Kid . I thought it was one of the better collectors editions helped of course by the Neal Adams Fortress of Solitude pages.

DeleteI didn't have this one but it looks a good story and worth a read. Imagine cutting your comic up though. Back in the day, if there was something to cut out, I would buy two copies so I had an unruined copy. There's something wrong with the pics. If I click on the first two, both of them show the third.

DeleteTomorrow is 50 years since Savage Sword Of Conan No.2 came out which was my first ever Conan comic and my introduction to the character. The story within was called "Lair Of The Beast-Men".
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is also 50 years since episode one of Genesis Of The Daleks, the Dr Who story that introduced Davros.
Then tomorrow is also 50 years since I bought the SSOC #2 which I yet own today, CJ. 50 years, eh? Seems only like a few short years ago to me at the very most.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Davros was a mistake. It gave the game away that Daleks weren't dwarfish mutants that looked nothing like human beings. Down with Davros, up with the TV21 origin of The Daleks.
Did you get the version with the foil cover, or the standard glossy version? (I can't see the point of foil versions on a facsimile myself). I've not yet picked up a copy, although a number still sit on my LCS shelf if I get too tempted. I usually restrict myself to only collecting the Limited Collectors Editions of books I'd purchased the first time around (with the notable exception of More Fun #1), and I'd never had the Superman/Flash version back in the 70s.

I did buy the foil version of FF #1, but only because it didn't have a barcode on the front cover, and there's a handful of other standard-sized facsimiles I've bought foil versions of, as well as the normal editions. I've bought the Limited Collectors' Edition facsimile of Batman's Strangest Cases and am waiting for its arrival. Can't say for sure whether I had it in the '70s, but I don't think so.
