A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Squeal! Where do you obtain such wonderful items?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen these in hardback Kid. What is the price difference between the 2 formats? . I always wanted that Legion collectors edition but never saw it at the time, or when specialist shops opened and I was still into that type of thing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the hardbacks cost when they first come out and are sold by retailers, McS, and it depends where you're buying them from a couple of years down the line. The Ali one I got for £15 (still shrink-wrapped), but that was an unusually good deal as other sellers were wanting around £165. The Legion one cost £25, the Wonder Woman one was £20 and the Amazing World around £18. Obviously other sellers will be asking more - I saw one going for over £70 on eBay.
DeleteI have the hardcover Superman/Ali version (it was a gift). I only picked up the softcover edition of The Bible when it was published. By the time the others rolled out, my local shop had stopped carrying comics. Will have to see if I can track the others down.
ReplyDeleteWell worth doing so, G - they're lovely. I think they shouldn't have bothered with the red border on the Ali book's cover though.
DeleteI prefer the card-cover facsimile editions myself, as they most easily approximate the original item. That said, having More Fun #1 as a hardback is a real treat.
ReplyDeleteIt was kind of cheeky of me to ask, as I prefer having both versions, B. As you say, the card-covered ones because they're more like the originals, but also the hardbacks because they're more durable and vibrant.
DeleteAlmost always orefer softcover.
ReplyDeleteGood thing about the hardcovers, GP, is they have flat spines with their name on them, which makes it easier to find the ones you want when they're sitting on your bookshelf.
