FOURTEENTH & FINAL PART OF SECRET ORIGINS COVER & IMAGE GALLERY...

Copyright DC COMICS

Okay, so let's get it out of the way.  Here we are at last, with the long-awaited (cough) final part of an almost 8-and-a-half years odyssey through the covers and various interior images of the 50-ish Secret Origins series from around the late 1980s and early '90s.  We saw the last regular mag in the previous gallery instalment - this time around it's Annuals, Specials, and Giants just to complete the set.

Actually, Weird Secret Origins doesn't really belong here as it's a reprint issue published in 2004, a few years after the Replica Editions (1997/8 & 1999) of the first two mags from the '60s - plus a retro-style 'third' mag called Even More Secret Origins (2003), but I decided to throw it in just for good measure as it was stored away with the other mags in this post.  (Wouldn't want it to feel unloved and rejected, now would we?)

So that's it Crivvies - it's now time to fill in the hole, pat down the earth, say our final goodbyes to Secret Origins, and focus on what lies ahead in future posts.  Hopefully you'll all be along for the ride!  In the meantime, feel free to bid your final adieus to this series of DC mags in our eager-to-hear-from-you comments section.

(I must confess to a sense of accomplishment - I started and I finished (eventually).  Magnus Magnusson, John Humphrys, and Clive Myrie would be proud of me.)

I'm not sure but I think comments may be going astray on Rip Jagger's Dojo again. I left a recent comment about Sinbad and one about The Dark Crystal but neither have appeared.

Although you didn't watch the POTA TV series, Kid, were you aware of the POTA bubblegum cards featuring scenes from the series? There were two cards in every pack of bubblegum and about 60 cards in all I think. In my school everyone seemed to be collecting and swapping them in the first half of 1975 - well, the boys were anyway while the girls seemed more interested in the Bay City Rollers as I recall.

The last time comments to RJ's blog took a while to be published and answered was because he was out of town for a few days, CJ, so it might be the same again. No, I wasn't aware of the cards, and wouldn't have been interested in them anyway as I hadn't seen the series. Also, I hate the 'confectionery' the cards came with (my revulsion of it had increased since chidhood) so I wouldn't have bought them for that fact alone.

Some of the later issues seem to be pretty decent they certainly have some nice covers. Although not part of the original series, the Weird Secret Origins issue ( that passed me by) is by far my favourite issue

Should be easy enough to acquire from back issue dealers, McS, should you be interested in doing so. In fact, there was a hardback collected edition of the two Secret Origins replica editions, the retro 'third' (new, but reprints) 'Even More' issue, plus the 'Weird' issue. Would look nice on your bookshelf.
