There was a time when Sybil Danning made me melt a little. She comes across as too hard to me today, so I must've become a wimp in the interim.
ReplyDeleteShe still makes me melt, RJ, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm not a wimp.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I know the name I can't recall any films, TV she appeared in. I'm assuming Sybil us around 60/70 now so Kid dies the older lady still make you "melt" or only the younger one - older Debbie Harry and Gaye Advert still make my heart skip a beat.
ReplyDeleteGood question, McS. Actually, Sybil still looks good, but obviously I'm thinking of her when she was in her prime. And I'm sure that's how most women would want guys to think of them, eh? Having said that, Salma Hayek is in her early-to-mid 50s and still looks amazing. Never heard of Gaye Advert and I'm not going to Google search her. With that name, I'd be scared of what would pop up on my computer.
ReplyDeleteKid, I just googled Gaye Advert on your behalf (because I'm so nice). She is 64 and was in a '70s rock band called the Adverts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, CJ, but if you start getting dodgy pop-ups, I accept no responsibility. Blame McS. (So was she nice-looking?)
ReplyDeleteGaye Advert was the female face of punk big panda eyes ( she wore dark mascara) a stunning looking woman (rock chick type) and by all accounts a lovely person.
ReplyDeleteH'mm, not sure I go for 'rock chick types', but I'll reserve judgement 'til I see a pic of her, McS.
ReplyDeleteDebbie Harry and several other 1980s rock stars (Stevie Nicks, Terri Nunn, Patty Smyth, Susanna Hoffs, and Samantha Fox) aged better than I would have expected. Some of them may even look better now, since they look like attractive grown women instead of like Bratz dolls. Some people just need to grow into their looks.
ReplyDeleteI've always been a wimp, but I've always liked Sybil. Go figure. But then, in my experience, the harder they are, the sweeter they are, once you get to know them.
A co-worker of mine once saw me wearing a Buffy the Vampire Slayer T shirt. A few weeks later, she saw me wearing a Xena Warrior Princess T shirt, and the said, "I never figured you for a Xena fan. Oh. Yeah. I forgot. You like the tough chicks." Then a few weeks after that, she saw me in a Lara Croft Tomb Raider shirt, and laughed, "You and your female superheroes."
I like Xena, Lara Croft, and Sam Fox myself, TC, but apart from Debbie Harry, I'm not too familiar with the other names you mention (though I've heard of them). You should've said to your co-worker "You play your cards right, you could be on my tee-shirt too!" (What's a slap between co-workers?)
