Just wanted you to know, if you didn't already, that Joe was a talented artist in his own right.
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Nice little story. I didn't realise how good a penciller Joltin' Joe was- page 4 panel 2 is lovely, and the very last panel of the story is nice and atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteGreat little tribute to one of the men who defined the look of Marvel!
That he did, DS - defined the look of Marvel (along with others) is certainly true.
ReplyDeleteSome of the inking on that reminds me a bit of Klaus Janson's early style.
ReplyDeleteTerry Szenics is a name I've seen in a few early Marvels, but know nothing about. Anyone know any more about him (or her)?
Terry's a she. As far as I know, she didn't do a lot of lettering for Marvel, but she was excellent. She lettered the first Doctor Strange story in Strange Tales #110.
