Sadly, my photos of my newly arrived REVOLTECH THUNDERBIRD 2 didn't come out too well, but I'll use them until I can take sharper ones. In fact, I'll publish the 'official' ones just now as well, the better to show you what a great collectable this is. This usually sells for around £90 (sometimes more), but I got mine for a third of that, post free from Japan. Wotta bargain, eh? If you're quick you may be as lucky as I was, so cop a gander at eBay now.
And below are some 'proper' pics so you can see it in all its non-blurred glory. I wish I could show you the highly-detailed interior of the pod, but take my word on it - it's ace. And the TB4 is smaller even than the MATCHBOX and CORGI ones.

It's a very nice model indeed, 3. Unlike Dinky, made of plastic and light as a feather, just under 8 and a half inches long. Wotta stoater.

Sure can - the Dinky TB2 pops up on eBay quite regularly, but good condition ones aren't cheap. I've got 4 of them - 2 green ones, one metallic blue one (same size as the green ones) and a larger sized metallic blue one (all metal) issued in the '70s. I've got TB2s in all different makes and sizes.

I've been on TV a couple of times talking about my toy collection, and I think the Thunderbirds theme played over part of a scan around my room. That programme was called Under The Hammer, so if you type that into the blog's search box, a clip of it should come up.

ReplyDeleteThing is, 3, I actually AM a toy collector - some people (cruel, heartless brutes that they are) would dispute my other modest, self-effacing claims.
ReplyDeleteHad a look at that it's good you have them out to look at. Have you any away in their boxes? It's not about the money for you which is good to see. Some I have seen have shelving with hundreds of boxed toys displayed in their basement. One chap said his wife had not been in the basement rooms for years, most of these big collectors are in the States.

Some of my stuff is still boxed and stored away in boxes simply because I don't have the room to put it all on display. Maybe one day...

ReplyDeleteThey're a bit blurred, CJ. I turned off the flash because it was wiping out the detail, but there wasn't enough light without it to focus properly.
ReplyDeleteAnd they say things are expensive in Japan. How is it that this collectible made its way there but was cheaper eh? Btw I told my son another the Thunderbirds toys and reminded him his Captain Scarlet toy is now 25 years old . How time flies, now I wish I had kept that Thundebird Island toy set.
ReplyDeleteYou have to look for the bargains, PS - this same toy is obtainable from eBay at much higher prices than I paid - not counting expensive postal charges. Incidentally, I've still got my three versions of Tracy Island - the Matchbox one, the Vivid Imaginations one (pretty much the same), and a smaller, automated one that unfolds itself into a playset. (That one was by Vivid as well, if I recall correctly. There all up in my loft at the moment.)
