SUPERMAN copyright DC COMICS |
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Mandrake The Magician. Now there's a name I have not heard in years. Not since the 70s.
ReplyDeleteI think Mandrake used to be in TV Tornado back in the '60s, LH. If so, that'll be the last time I remember reading anything with him in it.
ReplyDeleteI think it was also part of a comics section of a newspaper which I recall reading it on a regular basis. If my brain is working right i think but dont quote me it was replaced by a Tintin block..
ReplyDeleteAh, right. Don't think I ever read it in a newspaper, but then again, I didn't read many newspaper strips as a kid. The Fun Section in The Sunday Post and Chipper and Bristow in (I think) The Evening Citizen was about it for me. Oh, and Angus Og in The Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
ReplyDeleteI certainly remember the ads on the back of the books, but I think I was too blinkered in my Batman pursuit that I did not actively seek out the other titles. That said, I think I did end up with a couple of The Man From Uncle titles when I was a bit older and trying to track down Uncle paperbacks written by the likes of Michael Avallone.
ReplyDeleteI thought I had a couple or so Man From Uncle ones, B, but when I saw one last year sometime, it wasn't text stories, it was picture strips, which surprised me. If I ever had any, I certainly don't remember them being comic strips.
