of so-called 'alternative' comedy (an alternative
to comedy, some might say), but the bold Benny
was and still is one of Britain's comedy greats.
 So here he is in one of his finest moments.

    I've got a CD with a lot of his 'songs', called 'Benny Hill Sings?'. There's some clever word play in them, and the tunes ain't bad either.

    What a classic and it was a No.1 hit too. Today's Top 40 is too painfully cool to ever have fun songs like this in it. And he's right - pasteurised is best 'cause it keeps longer :)

    Much enjoyed Bennie Hill when I discovered him on late-night television after landing at college. The show was unashamedly zany and naughty and often funny, and despite the critics, funny always wins.

    I see that Ernie uses a horse and cart to deliver the milk - did anybody still do that in 1971 ? I was born in '66 so 1971 is on the earliest fringes of my memory - when I was a kid milkmen used those slow-moving milk floats. Talking of horses, our milkman delivered a loaf of bread too and one day when I was about 10 we came back from town and saw a horse standing outside our front door - the cheeky bugger had just scoffed an entire loaf of bread left by the milkman. We lived in a village so the horse must have escaped from a field.

    There may have been a few milkmen who still used horses, CJ. After all, the police still occasionally use them today, despite all the cars and vans at their command. However, the video is built around the words, and the horse is merely a visual accompaniment to the line '...and didn't "alf kick his 'orse", so put it down to artistic licence.

    Benny did deliver milk in his early years, I always assumed this was his own tribute those days. Besides, he didn’t like cars... I’ve always regarded Mr Hill to be overlooked. I’ve seen people who had never seen his show simply disregard it. Very sad.
