A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Oooh good one - OK my 6 would be (roughly):

Spider-man (starting from Romita's version as the main strip)
Dare Devil (from Colans version)
Spider-man the early years ( Ditko)
2: Mighty World of Marvel
Hulk
Thor
Dr Strange

5.Titans
Fantastic Four
Capt Marvel (from Starlins work)
Silver Surfer (replaced by Warlock by Starlin)
6, X-Men
X-Men (starting from Neal Adams run then into Cockrum . Byrnes run)
Wolverine
short series one one off tales ie New Mutants, Xmen solo strips etc
Nice ones, McScotty and the titles suit them!
DeleteGreat stuff, McScotty. I'd buy them, but I'd like to see the original Lee/Kirby tales as a back-up in the X-Men mag.
ReplyDeleteAnyone think they can do better than McScotty?
O.K. Indulge me, boring I know, but with a bit of fine tweaking, here are my 6 "perfect" Panini imaginary comic books, which start from the silver age beginning:-
ReplyDeleteBOOK #1 Spidey
Thor
Ant/Giant man (followed by Capt Marvel)
#2 FF
Cap
Subby
#3 Hulk
Iron Man
Sgt. Fury
#4 X-Men
Capt Brit
Dr. Strange
#5 Avengers
DD
Nick Fury
#6 Conan
Amazing Adventures vol 2
Human Torch(& Thing)
(followed by SS)
Right, I've got it out of my system now! Phew!
One small oversight I forgot to include the Marvel Super-Heroes strips (except Capt. Mvl), so I'll reprint them before Amazing Adventures in Book#6.
DeleteI"d just like to elaborate a little more about my 6. All the pages would be taken from the original original comics, warts and all, (e.g. Peter Palmer, Bob Banner, etc.) and a small picture of the original cover for each story would be shown on the contents page.
ReplyDeleteGiant-sized annuals would also be reprinted as and when they chronologically first came out.
Spidey stories would start with AF15, TAS-M, the 2 Spectacular S-M mags and the new story in MS-H14.
Thor would include Tales Of Asgard back-up strips and the one-off issue.
FF would also include the Tales of the Watcher fillers.
Cap would start from TOS
Subby would start from TTA
After the first 6 Hulks, the UK " Matador" 3 pager would be shown before the TTA strips.
Iron man & Subby one-off would be in between the TOS & I M strips.
The X-Men would also include the origin of... back-up strips.
CB would be as per the Panini reprints.
The Avengers 1.5 would be shown between 1&2
Conan as he originally appeared in Marvel USA.
Marvel Essentials - read 'em and weep!!
Trouble is, of course, JP, that they wouldn't be able to reprint the Conan stories as they no longer have the licence to REH characters. However, I was drooling at the mouth at the prospect of all those titles you listed.
ReplyDeleteIn my make-believe alternative universe they have required the rights for all their back catalogue and in my mind, as my comics sold so well, Panini have asked me to produce a further 6 titles to meet the demands of a market wanting more bronze age material. But here, as there was so much material, I have had to be selective.
ReplyDeleteBOOK #7 POTA - every Ape story from the Curtis mags and the UK weeklies.
Doc Savage, followed by Ka-Zar.
Warlock.
#8 Defenders
Spider-woman
Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze)
#9 Champions, then Invaders
Peter Parker
Iron Fist, then Master of Kung-Fu
#10 X Factor
She-Hulk
Black Panther/Eternals/(70's) Human Torch
#11 Marvel 2-in-1/ the Thing
Ms Marvel
Kill/Red Sonja
#12 Marvel Team-Up
Luke Cage/PM&IF
Man Thing.
Typo correction, should read:-
DeleteKUll/Red Sonja!
Sack those pesky printers!!
What we're obviously needing, JP, is for you to win 70 squillion quid on the Lottery and to buy Marvel from Disney. Then I'd need to win the Lottery to afford all the mags you'd put out.
ReplyDeleteSTOP PRESS! " FAMOUS PANINI PUBLISHER HEAD-HUNTED BY TITAN! "
ReplyDelete(might as well milk this for all it's worth!!)
A bit difficult where to start with the DC back catalogue, but might as well begin at the start of the 60's. As before any NEW stories in the 80 page giants/albums/annuals would also be reprinted. When a particular title was tried out in the B&TB or Showcase, that is where the reprints would start from.
BOOK#1 Superman
Justice League
Metal Men, then Metamorphosis
#2 Batman
Adventure comics
Lois Lane
#3 Wonder Woman
Action comics
Jimmy Olsen
#4 Green Lantern
Detective comics
Challs of the unknown, then Spectre
#5 Flash
World's Finest
Hawkman/ the Atom /Aquaman
#6 Superboy
Doom Patrol ( starting in My Greatest Adventure), then Teen Titans
Martian Manhunter ( from the HOM), then Blackhawk.
That's the silver age taken care of, if they do as well as their Panini counterparts, I shall have to consider expanding into the bronze age.
( " PLEASE DON'T!! " Everybody is screaming!! )
Make that " Metamorpho ", no " sis" on the end! - Predictive messaging strikes YET again!!
DeleteGuess I'd better buy a Lottery ticket then - just in case.
ReplyDeleteBecause you DEMANDED it! - Yes, YOU!!
ReplyDelete6 more Titanic Titan titles :-
( O.K. It's really gone to my head, now! )
BOOK#7 the B&TB ( from the start of the Batman team-ups)
Plastic Man, then SHAZAM!
Green Lantern Corps
#8 DC Team-up
Watchmen
Blue Beetle
#9 All Star Comics/Squadron
Supergirl
Jonah Hex/Hex
#10 New Teen Titans
V for Vendetta
Firestorm
#11 the LOSH
Kamandi
Night Force
#12 (Batman &) The Outsiders
Swamp Thing
JLI, then JSA
Sorry to hog this post, Kid, back to normal tomorrow.
Apologies also to all the great tiltles I never got around to reprinting, like Dracula, Machine Man, Wolverine, Punisher, Star Wars, What If, Star Trek, etc.,etc. - they just didn't give me a big enough budget!
Never mind, JP. As I said, when you win the Lottery, you'll have all the budget you need to indulge yourself.
