Thanks for another Frankie - if any strip was made for Halloween then it's Frankie. Rather unsettling seeing the big buffoon in such an emaciated state in the last panel though!
ReplyDeleteIndeed - he really looks like a monster in that panel, albeit rather a weak one. I think it's obvious that Reid was still enjoying himself drawing this strip - it has so much vitality. Something that his much later Faceache strips towards the end of his career lacked, in my opinion. Thanks for commenting, Phil.
ReplyDeleteThis was the strip that got me back into collecting UK comics (from 60s early 70s) and in particular into collecting Ken Reid's work again - I saw the first panel reprinted in an issue of Escape magazine dedicated to Kens work and it instantly took me back to when I was a kid - such is the power of some comics / artists. I always wonder what the strip looked like as I (so far) have never managed to get that issue of Wham for my collection, so thanks for printing it here I wasn't disappointed -McScotty
ReplyDeleteNae bother, McScotty - glad to be of assistance in reuniting you with your past.
