A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

All that cross-hatching on the first two Stingray pages reminds me of Reg Bunn of The Spider.
ReplyDeleteVery like it indeed. Well spotted.
ReplyDeleteLook at the depth of tone in that Stringray strip, it's just fantastic. I assume it's Embleton but I haven't much Black and White around this date or. A really nice touch on the Stringray at the bottom of p1 where the outline is omitted on the yellow.
ReplyDeleteI imagine it would've taken Embleton longer to ink all that limework than to just paint it as he normally did. Great artist.
ReplyDeleteWonnderful post Kid.Once again you prove this blog is getting to be the best for British comics!!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for the compliment, Tim. Let's hope I can live up to it.
