PART EIGHT OF MIGHTY MARVEL COVER GALLERY...

Images copyright MARVEL COMICS

From the days when The MIGHTY WORLD Of MARVEL was still the toughest new kid on the block, comes another three covers with internal images to thrill and delight you.  JIM STARLIN is still handling the cover artwork, with interior power-packed pages by JACK KIRBY and STEVE DITKO.  Interestingly, you'll notice that, on the second-last page from the bottom, the illustration which originally graced the cover of JOURNEY Into MYSTERY #83 (which, back in 1962, was published with fewer STONE MEN From SATURN) has had the central figure of THOR The MIGHTY 'beefed up' from his original appearance.

There - edification as well as entertainment.  So who said I never give you anything?  Whoever it was, they were lying.

  1. Ahhh memories I remember the excitment of seeing in isuse 19 a new UK Marvel - of course we all knew it was going to be Spidey (but Thor was a pleasent addition) and the inculsion of DD in MWOM - That was just a wonderful period Marvel UK although it took me a few months to get into DD (loved the Wally Wood period and once Gene Colan took over that was me sold ) - Those covers by Starlin still hold up - Really enjoying all the UK Marvel stuff thanks for this - McScotty

  2. It's thrilling to see these again. As I'm certain you can appreciate, it only feels like months since those 70s Saturday mornings.

  3. Sometimes only weeks, Dougie. I often feel I'm still living in the '70s, and am surprised when reminded of the actual year. Surprised and shocked, in fact. (And a little alarmed.)
