NEW CASTEL CRIVENS ACQUISITIONS...

Copyright DC COMICS

I'm fortunate enough to own the original of the above facsimile of Batman #227, but I simply had to buy this new edition as well as it's a great story.  The Neal Adams cover pays homage to that of Detective Comics #31, which bears the signature of Bob Kane.  However, given Mr.Kane's reputation for being a bit of a bullsh*tter, you can't really rely on anything with his name on it as having been drawn by him.

Next, above, is a facsimile of DC Special #5, featuring Joe Kubert.  I've got the original of the first issue, so this makes a nice addition to my extremely limited number (four, I think) of this particular title.  A nice variety of stories inside, so if you're a Kubert fan, this one's for you.

Not a facsimile, but a brand-new one-shot publication, celebrating 50 years of Captain Britain.  Had a quick browse-through and it looks like one worth having, especially if you'e a CB fan.  Even if you're not, would still be a nice addition to your comics collection.  I only received this one yesterday (Friday), having pre-ordered it a while back, yet I see it's already being sold on eBay for extortionate asking prices.  Grab one while you can!

  1. I might pick up the Batman issue but I have the original DC Specials and Cap Britain wasn't really my cuppa tea ( although I could be persuaded if Alan Davis did any interior art).

    1. He sure did, McS - his name's on the top of the cover to let you know his art is inside.

  2. Thought that might just have been the cover art. I very well may now pick up Cap Britain now

    1. Worth a read, I'm sure. And those DC facsimiles keep on getting better and better. It's difficult to fault them, McS.

  3. The Captain Britain cover should have been a pastiche of CB #1 from 50 years ago!

Tonight I found a Two Shillings coin, dated 1965, on the pavement near my house! Amazing to think this coin has existed for my entire lifetime before finally coming into my possession.

    1. There's a reproduction of the first cover inside the mag, CJ.

I've got quite a number of coin sets, featuring coins from the '30s right up to the '90s. I dig 'em out every so often just to look at them in their plastic cases.

I'm about to publish a new post in a few minutes - thought you might like to know.
