Well that sure didn't take long. Ordered on Friday evening, delivered early this afternoon, yet another incarnation of the James Bond Aston Martin D.B.5., this one by Playmobil. No point me wittering on about it when I can simply show you some photos taken with my own trusty camera. Perhaps I should just point out that although it's got various features, only the ejector seat is operated by a lever (the exhaust - on the correct side, unlike the Corgi Toys version) at the back. The bulletproof shield, machine guns, front and rear overriders, and four tyre-slashers are 'operated' by pulling them out manually, or in the case of the number plates, revolving them. Love it to bits, though I'd say 007 definitely needs a haircut. (And thanks to reader and commenter Monty for the heads up about this wonderful toy, which first came out in 2021.)
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

No James Bond fans out there, huh?
ReplyDeleteOnly just saw this, it's fantastic! A fun little toy but classy at the same time. I like the little gold bars which I don't think I saw on the Amazon page. The characters are great as well. Glad you like it, glad to be of service. 😊
ReplyDeleteIt's a great addition to my collection of D.B.5s, M, so thanks again for bringing it to my attention. The only problem is that the box is glued shut in such a way that it's difficult to open without inflicting some damage (to the box), but I managed to sort it.
DeleteLike the car, not so sure about the Playmobil figures, though. Oddjob looks rather like The Fat Controller from Thomas the Tank Engine, to me. I wonder what prompted Playmobil to produce the model at this late remove?
ReplyDeleteAs it's specifically tied in to Goldfinger, I suspect it might be some kind of anniversary of the movie, B.
DeleteAnother Bond car, not sure if you have this one already.

Yup, got an original '70s version, plus a later reissue. Ta anyway, M.
DeleteI had the original 70s one as well but I think I sold it a few years back, unless it's up the loft with the FF membership card. Do you have any other Bond cars? I couldn't really think of any others, the DB5 and the Lotus Esprit are the most famous I think.
ReplyDeleteCorgi released a load of Bond cars in (I think) the '90s, including the Mustang from Diamonds Are Forever, Goldfinger's Rolls Royce, Little Nellie from YOLT, and various others, and I've got them all. I'd say the Toyota from YOLT is equally as famous as the DB5 and the Lotus Esprit.
DeleteHere's another DB5 version, Airfix model kit, free delivery as well. Don't think much of the registration though.

I've already got an Airfix Aston Martin, M - got it around 26-odd years ago, still haven't built it yet. Maybe one day...
DeleteI love model kits but would be reluctant to build one based on my DIY skills. I just know it would look a complete mess. And as for painting it, I'm no good at decorating either. I leave model kits to the experts and admire their craft.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky in that I'm quite handy at building and painting model kits, but I wasn't particularly good at it as a kid. I've still got loads of models from years ago that I haven't even started yet, so I'd better get a move on soon.
