The MIGHTY WORLD Of MARVEL PIN-UP BOOK...

Copyright MARVEL COMICS

Back in April of 2019 in my Treasury Editions 'Pot Luck' Cover Gallery, I mentioned I had the above Pin-Up Book and would add it to my main Marvel Treasury Editions post when I remembered where I'd put it.  Anyway, here it finally is, but rather than just show you the front and back covers, I thought I'd also share the actual contents with you.  So whaddya think, Crivvies, was this post worth waiting for and what pics do you like best?  Let me know in the ever-lovin' comments section.  (Oh, go on, go on, go on, go on!)  And remember, frantic ones, you can enlarge any image by clicking on it, then clicking again for optimum size.

Spidey's left leg just doesn't look right to my eyes

For some reason, the original Kirby-drawn face on Thor has been changed

  1. They're all good but my favourite one is probably the Silver Surfer as it recalls the fantastic cover of The Superheroes #1.

    1. Yup, that's certainly a good 'un, sure enough, CJ. (And it was The Super-Heroes with a hyphen, pedant that I am.)

  2. Happy Easter to all.A wildly different selection of images....I wonder what the criteria for inclusion was and who choose them!Kirby and Steranko are the jewels in the crown. The team shots of Avengers and Defenders are great but one or two of the others.... not so hot.Overall a beautiful addition to the Fireside book series and was particularly hard to find.Great post .

    1. Strangely, I no longer recall exactly when or where I got this Fireside Book, Triple F, though it was around 45 years ago at a rough estimate. There's a mark on the underside of the book, suggesting it was remaindered stock, but it wasn't hard to find as I wasn't particularly looking for it - it was just there, wherever 'there' was.

  3. Yes! I like it! Spidey's leg looks okay to me but the spider emblem on his chest looks off-centre even taking into account the twist of the body. Then again, who am I to criticise, I couldn't draw a straight web! My favourites are Spidey in the spotlight, Daredevil and Ghost Rider.

    1. The Spidey page looks more like a Larry Lieber piece of art to me, inked by Romita, than it does a pure Romita piece, M. In fact, if it is by the Jazzy one, it's probably the worst drawing of his I've seen. Though maybe it's been played about with by another hand for inclusion in the book.

Was the original illustration from the notorious "nose" era?

    1. No, the mask was drawn with the 'slide up' over the head 'pointy' version. They got rid of the double points which mad it look as if it had horns.

Spotlight Spidey, and the clean lines of Dr Doom. I can picture them, A1 size on my bedroom wall! Shabby Chic 'Vs' Marvel? I hope the other half approves, or she'll just have to leave. 'Dastardly Snigger!'

    1. Yeah, wives and girlfriends are ten-a-penny, AAW - Marvel posters are in a different class. You just put her straight.
