Kid, Reed will be away in the Negative Zone next week for a day or two. Why not come over to the Baxter Building and we can have a little fun together? Or I can jump in the Pogo Plane and visit you - whichever you prefer. Love and kisses.
ReplyDeleteThat last one from the Paul Ryan era is indicative of how good the comic got then. I think that period of the comic is underrated by most.
ReplyDeleteI loved Paul Ryan's run on the title, RJ. And after acquiring so many issues recently that I previously didn't own, I've become extremely impressed with Keith Pollard's art on the mag. Another underrated artist who deserves far more credit.
ReplyDeleteOh, better 'phone and arrange something with me, Susie - I might be entertaining Salma Hayek next week.
ReplyDeleteI see that #363 is from 1992 so we're as distant from FF #363 as that issue was from FF #1.
ReplyDeleteKid, I've just been reading Rip Jagger's Dojo about Kirby at DC in the '80s and when I saw there were 2 comments I thought "I'll bet that's Kid complaining about the Kirby art" and I was right!
More lamenting than complaining, CJ, but his later art is really quite painful to behold, compared to when he was at the top of his game. Mainly down to age and illness I suppose, but still, nowhere near as good as he used to be.
ReplyDeleteThese are all new to me Kid as I stopped eading/picking up most of Marvel DC etc comics by this time. My kast FF would have been John Byrnes first run. Paul Ryan looked a geat artist for thexFF ad to hear ge passed away so young
ReplyDeleteYeah, Paul Ryan's run on FF was great, McS, he drew a fantastic Invisible Woman (if you know what I mean). I bought my last issues of FF around '76/'77, but I returned to the fold with Byrne's 3rd issue, acquiring his first two not long after.
