A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

This is one of my all-time favorite comic book covers. What a great scene, so excellently rendered by Dick Giordano. The story for the record is that the mini-JLA is the spawn of Darkseid's henchmen Mokkari and Simyan, at the Evil Factory. Here's a link with more details:

That's interesting, RJ. Wasn't Superman's DNA sent into space on the back of an android/robot/thingy doo-da to prevent just such a thing happening? I'll check out that link.
ReplyDeleteFor years fans have joked about covers that placed women in peril-- or in refrigerators-- but that one doesn't seem to have attracted much attention, as far as I know. Maybe it's the "Gulliver's Travels" visual trope that distracts some people from the basic image.
ReplyDeleteThat could well be it, GP, and well-observed on your part. Women in refrigerators, eh? Maybe that's why they're always giving me the cold shoulder?
