The stunning, stupendous, and sultry Sybil Danning...
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Which of Danning's roles in films/TV do you consider her best and/or sexiest?
ReplyDeleteThat's easy, GP - the little home movies we made together that no one is ever going to see but me and her. (Actually, better make that just me, as they only exist in my imagination.) That's quite a tough question because I've only ever seen her in Battle Beyond The Stars, plus a TV episode (on video) where she gets sexy with Robert Vaughn. I know her mainly from her pin-ups in various magazines like Starburst, etc. She's been nice enough to comment on the blog a couple of times.
ReplyDeleteShe was supersexy as a femme fatale cougar in They're Playing with Fire, and as a gangster's moll in Cuba Crossing (aka Kill Castro), although both movies stunk. As did Hercules (1983), Reform School Girls, and Bluebeard.
ReplyDeleteL.A. Bounty was not bad. It wasn't especially good, but Sybil's fans would probably enjoy it.
I'd go with the trashfilm thriller THEY'RE PLAYING WITH FIRE, though I've no idea how easy it is to find these days...
ReplyDeleteI think I first saw her in Starburst, then maybe in one of Steranko's magazines (or similar type publication) back in the early '80s, TC. (I'm no longer sure whether I'd seen Battle Beyond The Stars in between those two mags or not.) I didn't keep the Steranko mag (still got Starburst), but cut out a full page pin-up of her, which has been on my bedroom wall ever since then (with a four year span in another house in between).
ReplyDeleteActually, when I moved house in '83, it got torn around the edges when I took it off the wall, so I cut out her figure and stuck it onto a piece of A4 paper, and up it went on the wall of my new room. When we moved back to our previous house four years later, back it went up on the wall where it had been before. A year or two back, I scanned it and printed out a newer copy, which replaced the original - though I've still got that tucked away. So, basically, what I'm saying is that I've had the pleasure of Sybil on my wall for close to 40 years.

Ta, GP, I'll maybe keep an eye out for it. Have to say though, if I never get to see any other of her films, I wouldn't be too bothered as it's her looks that grab me, so the pics I've got of her (no naughty ones) will do me just fine for the purpose of admiring her beauty. Still a fine looking woman for her age too.
She was featured in Steranko's Preview magazine at least three times in the 1980s, maybe more. She also posed for Playboy in 1982 or '83, proving that she is a natural blonde.
ReplyDeleteNever had any doubts, TC, though how do you know she didn't dye downstairs? Marilyn Monroe did - and apparently it hurt like hell.
