I picked up the Avengers Masters of Evil, True Believers edition yesterday, a better purchase than these for us old gits - also picked up 3 graphic novels for £10 in the sales (A1 in Glasgow).
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, McS, but considering I have various reprints of it already which I can read whenever I like, waiting is no great hardship. What were the three graphic novels, if you don't mind me being nosey?
ReplyDeleteThe novels are newer ones, Bizarro (by Corson and Duarte-the cartoony version),Uncanny Avengers by Remender and Acuna and a Superboy best of 60s 70s stories. They don't have lots but some good buys for £3.99 each or 3 for £10. Have you been in the new Forbidden Planet in Glasgow yet?
ReplyDeleteI quite fancy that Superboy one, McS, might track it down one day. Haven't even been in the old FP for a couple of years or so, as I don't get into Glasgow as often since having to look after an elderly relative with Alzheimer's, and even then, I only get in briefly when a friend runs me in. No plans to visit the new one, except to drop something off for the owner, but I don't know when that will happen. I get mostly everything comics and toy related from ebay nowadays, which means I don't even have to leave the house. Much prefer it actually.
ReplyDeleteThe old FP closes in a few weeks it is only currently selling 100s of grahic novels off at half price, but they're all over the place. The new FP is massive very trendy so I'm not a big fan but kid will love it. Back issue section isn't great and costs are to my eye pretty high but some great back issues if you have £100 £150 to spend. Sorry to hear about you family member must be hard work.
ReplyDeleteThe old shop's been there since around 1988, I think - wonder what'll take its place? When it comes to back issues, although there are some ridiculous prices on ebay, if you're patient you can get some real bargains from time to time.
ReplyDeleteYes, it can be very hard work, McS, but others have it worse, so no point complaining.
