I don't remember who Bushman is but that's the cover of Moon Knight #1 from (I think) 1980. I know because I bought it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't buy it at the time, CJ, but I know you're right about it being Moon Knight #1 'cos I've seen the cover with its original logo before. Are you going to buy the TB reprint?
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to read it on your computer?
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteWhy not?
ReplyDeleteOh I missed the Iron Man Mandarinissue (I assume that with Don Heck art), I'll need to pick that up next time I'm in Giasgow.
ReplyDeleteYup, Don Heck all the way through, McS. A 'must have' I'd say.
ReplyDeleteNo. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes it is. (It's behind you!)
ReplyDeleteEnough satire...my enduring memory of Moon Knight #1 was a mate reading it in assembly when we were about 11 or 12, and a teacher marched over and grabbed it off him! I was potty about Moon Knight back then, and the 2 ND issues, 4 & 5, were holy grails back then. Then it went direct sales only with 15 and I gradually lost interest...I did get 25 though, which was a fantastic story I wish I'd kept...
ReplyDeleteI was never a huge Moon Knight fan for some reason, HS, though I bought a couple of issues of Marvel Spotlight (I think) back around the mid-'70s when he appeared in that mag. I also read some b&w reprints in a UK Marvel monthly, but again, I wasn't overly enthused. However, I quite enjoyed the TB reprint, so may look out for further reprint appearances in the future.
ReplyDeleteDon't go by those Spotlight issues, Kid - they were ropey.I think it was the 4 personalities to match the aspects of the moon and Sienkiewicz' Adams-esque art in his own title that I liked. The issues where he fights Morpheus, also 15 & 25 were the standouts as far as I can recall, if you want to sample some. He's been handled badly since, but the Warren Ellis issues aren't bad - just too quick a read...
ReplyDeleteThere's a collected edition of Moon Knight currently available, so I might nab that at some stage. Other things at the top of the list at the moment though.
