BATMAN #232 FACSIMILE EDITION...

Copyright DC COMICS

I guess MARVEL's Facsimile Editions have proven popular, because now DC COMICS have gotten in on the act with the first release of their own series of classic reprints.  As with the Marvel ones, all the original ads are included, and, best of all, the entire contents are printed on non-shiny paper, more reminiscent of the way comics were done back in the day.

One slight niggle is that the reproduction quality of the ads doesn't seem quite so sharp as in the Marvel issues (it's not terrible though), but the story pages themselves are crystal clear and rich in colour.  So grab a slice of the past and buy this issue as soon as you can.  It's far less expensive than an original copy.

  1. Picked my copy up yesterday and was also chuffed the inside paper wasn't shiny. I also noticed that the ads weren't that sharp but overall I loved it and hope there will be more from that DC era.

  3. I'll need to keep track of these as I see Batman 181 and 251 are planned.I've only bought the Hulk , Wolverine edition and this one and really like them. Picked up loads of the Marvrl True Belivers editiond as well nd they have been great especially at the price. The guy in Forbidden Planet Glasgow said Batman 232 facsimile was his best seller, says it all about new comics.

  4. The House Of Secrets/Swamp Thing issue is also due out, and although I've got the original issue (as well as a couple of different individual reprint issues), I've already ordered and paid for the facsimile. I'd like to see Marvel do Journey Into Mystery #83 and Conan The Barbarian #1, although (again) I have the originals, as well as the True Believers reprints, which were excellent. As you say, if the facsimile of Batman #232 is a best seller, then it reflects poorly on modern comics, but having said that, people seem to snap up the facsimiles and True Believers (the good ones anyway) because they know that if they don't, it's harder to get them at the normal price later. Oddly, they tend to be a bit more casual and relaxed about picking up their usual titles.
